What is everyone Reading…
Okay we admit it we are behind on our reviews….. very behind. I think at last count I had four to write and Melanie had three so with that being said I decided that instead of us telling you what we are reading you should tell us what you are reading and loving.
I am reading three books right now, yes I read multiple books at one time, it depends on my mood which I pick up and read, and they are all in different locations. On the nightstand I have Mary Margret Daughtridge’s SEALed with a Promise, in the Living Room I have Megan Hart’s Precious and Fragile Things, and in my purse I have Linda Wisdom’s Demons are a Girl’s Best Friend.
So what is everyone else reading right now?

Moon Burning
Children of the Moon bk 3
Lucy Monroe
Barr never asked to be made laird over the struggling Donegal clan, or leader of its werewolf pack. But he’ll do his duty and although he hasn’t yet found his mate, he hopes she will be among his people. He expects his new role to be difficult; he doesn’t expect to discover a naked woman in the forest whose memory is as fragile as her human body—her delectable, all too appealing body. Could this woman be his true mate?
On a mission to save her people from extinction, Sabrine pretends she has no memory in order to gain access to her enemy: the Donegal clan. A raven shifter, she is determined to retrieve the sacred stone that rightfully belongs to her people. But soon she’ll be engulfed in her burning desire and growing love for Barr—and the dangerous and inescapable secrets destined to keep them apart…
I have to say that I really like this series. It is somewhat different from other paranormals, add in the historical aspect and it is a great read.
In Moon Craving Taloric’s second in command Barr is made Laird of the Donegal by king until the rightful Laird is of an age that he can lead his people well. Barr is to train Cercin into a proper Laird and also repair all the damage that was done to the clan at the hands of the previous Laird.
Barr has been Laird of Donegal clan for a month and it already feels like a lifetime, the complete incompetence of the previous Laird in training his men, also the superstitions that he has to combat. When he finds a naked Sabrine laying injured in the forest all of his protective instincts come forward. He knows that she is lying about her memory but chooses to let her. He also knows that by the end of the day he will have her in his bed. His wolf recognizes her as his mate almost from the beginning. He had given up hope of finding his true mate, the one that he would have a family and companionship with for the rest of his life, when he came to the Donegal clan he wondered if maybe he would find her there, he never expected to find her naked in the forest. As he begins to make headway with the clan and repairing all the damage that the previous Laird caused he also has to deal with a mate that denies the mating bond and has every intention of leaving him.
Sabrine is on a mission and doesn’t have time to be figuring out why she has the feelings for Barr when she has never been bothered about a man, and has never really thought about having a true mate. She had made her choice years ago regarding her future and hasn’t regretted it since. That is until she comes to the hated Foal land. She knows that someone in the clan has stolen the sacred stone that is crucial to her people. She doesn’t want to be drawn into their lives, and care about them, especially Barr. One of the things I liked about Sabrine is we knew from the beginning why she was the way that she was. She had given up a lot for her people and never regretted the choice until now, when she began to realize just what she had thrown away. As she comes to understand herself she is torn between her people and her future and deciding which is more important, her happiness or that of her people. The one thing she never takes into consideration however is Barr, and how her choices will affect him.
One of the things I like about this series is that there are no secrets from us the readers. From the very beginning we know almost everythign that is going on. A couple of things are kept from us but they are insignificant things, even while being an integral part of the story. What makes them so good I think is wondering just how they are going to resolve themselves to each other and also accept who the other person is.
One of the things that Lucy does really well is have a secondary love story, that takes place along side the main one. We don’t get all of the story but we get the important parts. The secondary story in this book takes place between the healer Verica and Barr’s second in command Earic, both characters bring a lot to the story including adding depth to Barr and Sabrine.
If you like medival historical’s and paranormals than you can’t go wrong with this series. One of the best parts of this series is that it can be read as a stand alone. It is great to read them in order, however not necessary to the story line.

February Book Watch
These are just a few of the books that we are looking forward to this month.
A good girl can be bad for one night…
Bernadette Hogan doesn’t make mistakes. Not when it comes to caring for her mother, and not at her job protecting Texas’s most eligible–and infuriating–bachelor. Maybe that’s why she’s overcome with guilt after one tiny indiscretion: a passionate fling with her boss that’s left her confused, intrigued…and pregnant.
but can a bad boy be good for a lifetime?
To self-made millionaire Jeremy Bridges, women are like fine wine: if held for too long, they sour. But one wild night with Bernadette changed all that. She makes him laugh, she makes him think, and soon she’s going to make him a father. For the first time, Jeremy wants to be a one-woman man. So how can he convince the fiercely independent Bernadette he’s ready to change from partying playboy to dependable dad–and become the loving husband she deserves?
When eighteen-year-old Lady Catriona Mackintosh discovers a wounded man in the forest near her Highland home, little does she know that he has sworn a sacred oath to kill her father and other members of the powerful Highland confederation known as Clan Chattan. Nor does she realize that she has met her soul mate. Independent, competent, intelligent, fiercely proud of her heritage, determined always to live near her own family, and known to her family as the “wee wildcat” because of her quick temper, Catriona is the daughter of a Highland chieftain and granddaughter of the even more powerful Chief (or Captain) of Clan Chattan. But her life changes forever when she persuades Sir Finlagh Cameron to return with her to her home to recover from his wounds.
Sir Finlagh “Fin” Cameron is on a mission for the heir to Scotland’s throne, who has sent him to the Highlands to persuade the Chief of Clan Chattan to arrange a secret meeting for him with two other great lords (the Lord of the Isles and the Lord of the North). Until Fin meets Catriona, however, he has no idea that her father was the Clan Chattan war leader who led them in the battle that wiped out many of Clan Cameron’s best warriors, including Fin’s own father. The sole survivor of that battle, Fin accepted a bequest of vengeance from his dying father, providing him with a dilemma to face as he begins to fall in love with Catriona. He is not the only one enticed by her charms, either. There are two other contenders, one of whom is his own master, the heir to Scotland’s throne. With royal mischief afoot, if Catriona and Fin are ever to find happiness, they must first avoid disaster that could changeScotland’s history, and find ways to be open and honest with each other.
Hoyt’s second Maiden Lane novel (after 2010′s Wicked Intentions), set in 1737 London, initially seems to follow the formula of the naïve virgin falling prey to the profligate rake. But Lady Hero Batten is quick-witted and forthright, and she refuses to be just another conquest for Griffin Remmington, her fiancé’s younger brother. When Griffin insists on accompanying Hero to the orphanage she funds in the dangerous St. Giles area of London, Hero finds him an affable and attractive companion. Their relationship changes as Hero learns that Griffin isn’t merely the irresponsible younger son he has pretended to be, and Griffin struggles to meet Hero’s high expectations. Fans of historical detail will love subplots involving the campaign to halt the production of gin and the overwhelming need for decent orphanages, and the mysterious happenings in St. Giles provide excitement and suspense.
ANDREW MACALISTER longs for a cure to free him from the excruciating pain caused by an old wound, but when he rescues a drowning woman, he has no idea how much his life is about to change. All Drew knows is that this mysterious woman is hiding secrets—and that he’s never felt such a consuming desire before. Yet he cannot deny her request for help, even if it means bringing the detested English army to his Highland clan’s home.
LEAH NOBLE MCQUARRIE still harbors a deep hatred of the Fae who tortured her eleven years ago, forcing her to escape back in time to the thirteenth century. A descendant of the Fae, Leah denies her heritage and her magical healing abilities. But the English army is holding her beloved adoptive grandfather captive, so Leah must seek help from the Fae—and the captivating man whose touch she craves.
Then Drew discovers Leah’s secrets, and he’s torn between old loyalties and trusting a woman who has the power to give him the future he’s sought—but could destroy his clan forever. . . .
The last thing event planner Tara Lincoln needs is the jet-set lifestyle of a football pro like Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand proved that Mick is an all-star-both on the field and in the bedroom.
Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn’t intend to put herself out there again, especially with a certified heartbreaker. But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind to catch this sultry vixen.
Shalvis kicks off a new contemporary series with this entertaining smalltown tale. Lilah Young has given up on finding Mr. Right in Sunshine, Idaho. Fortunately, when she rear-ends a truck, its owner turns out to be handsome out-of-towner Brady Miller. Lilah, a junk-food–loving animal enthusiast, is focused on her work at an animal kennel. Brady is a pilot-for-hire and photographer who’s just in town to help out his foster brothers. Brady and Lilah give in to their chemistry while telling each other their relationship is finite, but soon their passion deepens. There’s plenty of sizzle but not much action, and there’s never really any doubt that Lilah and Brady will overcome their hangups. Nonetheless, it’s an entertaining read and a good choice for readers who like cooing over cute animals as well as a cute romance.

Without Alice
D.J. Kirkby
Have you ever had a secret? One so important that it feels as if it will tear you in two? Stephen’s got one. He’s also got a great job, beautiful wife and an adorable son. Outwardly his life seems perfect but it means nothing without Alice. Read ‘Without Alice’ and meet a man who you will love to hate until you learn to love him.
When I got this book in the mail I wasn’t sure what to expect, but thought what the heck I will give it a try especially as it had come all the way from England to me.
The first thing I have to say is that if you are not used to british english there are words that may cause you to go hum, these are words that you don’t read and hear in Harry Potter.
The book opens with three different births, Alice, Stephen and Jennie. It then moves on to Jennie giving birth to a beautiful son, the father of whom is Stephen. From the very beginning of this book Stephen is a royal ass. But you know that there is more going on with him, just not what. One thing is very clear however he is not happy.
Jennie drove me nuts from the very beginning. The way that she acted whenever Stephen wanted to hold the baby, made me want to reach into the book and slap her. I got it she was the one that had given birth to the baby, but she wasn’t the only parent. Also the way that she was a doormat for Stephen, she kept brushing his attitude off, instead of recognizing that there was something wrong.
As the book continues you discover that all is not what it seems between these two.
Then there was Alice, a character that I liked from the very beginning. She had had a rough go of it but was back on her feet and beginning to live. In fact happiness was just around the corner for her when once again her world crumbles.
When the secret that Stephen has been keeping is revealed my heart literally ached for him, and I wondered just how everything was going to be resolved. Resolved it was and very beautifully I might add.
For a debut author DJ Kirkby does a wonderful job of creating a character that we can very justifiably hate, and yet want to know more about. For me reading this book, it wasn’t about Jennie and how unhappy she was, nor about Alice and how her life could ever be the same again, it was all about Stephen and why he did the things that he did, and how he was going to get his happy ever after, because well that is the reason that I read books. By the end of the book I was completely understood everything that Stephen had done and why. It all made perfect sense.
This is one of those books that once you start reading it you can’t put it down.

WoW Sunday
Today we will find out who is going to the Superbowl. I am rooting for the Packers. Our corporate offices are in Chicago and this email was circulated on friday to all the employees. So thought it would be a perfect WoW Sunday.
Our Papa, Who art a Bear, Hallowed be thy fame, Thy championship come, Thy play be run, At home as it is away, Give us this day our Sunday win, And forgive us our turnovers, Though we pounce on those who turnover against us, And lead us not into fourth and long, But deliver us from Rodgers. In the name of Ditka, …Butkus & the Holy Payton. As it was in 1985, so shall it be in 2011, reign without end. DA BEARS.
Hail Packers full of talent Lombardi is with thee. Explosive art thou amongst the grid iron & blessed is the fruit of Lambeau field Rogers. Holy cheese Heads, fans of Green Bay, pray for the bears, now and at the hour of their death, Amen.

Connecting with Authors Good or Bad *giveaway*
This week I has something really cool happen with an author and it got me to thinking. I remember when I first started reading if you wanted to send a letter to the author you had to send it to the publisher who then would read it and maybe pass it along to the author. Now however almost every author has their own website, with a blog, an email, facebook and twitter, making connecting with the author that much easier.
We then spend copious amounts of time stalking them or their characters, and they let us. They want to know what we are thinking about them and their books.
But can this be difficult? Say one of these authors that you are friends with on FB and twitter and chat with all the time writes a book that no matter how hard you try you just can’t read it, and in fact hate it. Do you tell them the truth or do you lie and say that you liked it?
Because I am in that kind of mood one lucky commenter will get a package from me of yep you guessed it books.
Goddess of the Sea *guest review*
We would like welcome our sister in law Angela to our website today. She has been telling us all about these books for a while and so the other I day I told her to give a review of it and I will post it. So here it is.
Goddess of the Sea
Goddess Summoning Series bk 1
P.C. Cast
Home alone on the night of her twenty-fifth birthday, U.S. Air Force sergeant Christine Canady yearned for something to cure her loneliness. After drinking too much champagne, she recited a divine invocation to revive her humdrum life. But how was she to know the spell would actually work?
When her plane crashes into the ocean, CC’s life changes forever. She awakens, bewildered, to find herself in a legendary time and place ruled by magic – and in the body of the mythical mermaid Undine. But danger lurks in the water, ready to swallow CC whole. Taking pity on her, the goddess Gaea turns CC into a damsel so that she might seek shelter on land. When a dashing knight comes to CC’s rescue, instead of falling for this dream come true, she aches for the sea and the darkly sexy merman who’s stolen her heart…
Just imagine that you are a regular girl. A lonely, regular girl. Maybe you’ve just moved to town. Maybe you have a phobia, of flying and you will have to get on a plane and fly from Tinkler Air Force Base in Oklahoma to Saudi Arabia in a few days. And maybe it’s your 25th birthday and your parents almost forgot to call and did forget to send your present on time. And maybe you bought yourself a bottle, ok two, of champagne to celebrate. And maybe you wish you were a little more exciting to the opposite sex and that life had a bit more magic. This is how life is for CC who has been on active duty service for the US Air Force since graduating high school, until she makes some magic of her own and invokes Gaea, the Great Mother. After some traumatic events, CC is suddenly transported through time and space to trade bodies with Princess Undine, mermaid and Princess of all the Seas.
Dylan is a quiet merman that wants to protect the girl he knows is not his former playmate the Princess Undine. He is instantly drawn to her and feels ripped in half when she is not near, but he continually puts his pain aside to help CC understand what has happened and what to do next. He is the most romantic and sexy hero with a tail to grace a page.
Who doesn’t want a little magic in their lives? In the Goddess Summoning series P. C Cast delivers magic and more! I am head over heals in love with these books and Goddess of the Sea was a sensual shiver inducing beginning. I am currently reading the fifth book in this series and each one makes me want to read the next. CC is a lonely girl and Dylan is a lonely boy, throw in some magic and you have love. This is not your typical boy meets girl, girl hates boy, boy romances girl and everything is all good romance novel. There is danger and spells, gods and goddesses and a knight that has been misled. Not to mention some very hot sex! Read this book, and the next, and the next!
