A Lot Like Love

FBI Seris bk 2

Julie James

THE FBI WANTS HER COOPERATION.

As the daughter of a billionaire and the owner of the city’s top wine store, Jordan Rhodes is invited to the most exclusive parties in Chicago. But there’s only one party the FBI wants to crash: the charity fundraiser of a famous restaurateur, who also happens to launder money for the mob. In exchange for her brother’s release from prison, Jordan is going to be there—with a date supplied by the Bureau.

AGENT MCCALL JUST WANTS HER.
As the top undercover agent in Chicago, Nick McCall has one rule: never get personal. This “date” with Jordan Rhodes is merely an assignment—one they’re both determined to pull off even if they can’t be together for five minutes before the sarcasm and sparks begin to fly. But when Nick’s investigation is compromised, he and Jordan have no choice but to pretend they’re a couple, and what starts out as a simple assignment begins to feel a lot like something more. . .

Okay I admit it I have  thing for guys in law enforcement, I blame it all on the fact that Mike was in uniform for a couple years.

Nick has been working undercover for years, and is one of the top agents in the Chicago office, so when his boss asks him to help with an under cover assignment that will be done in time for him to get to his mothers surprise birthday party. He should have known that it wasn’t going to be that easy. Especially once he met Jordan. She got under his skin like no one had in a long time. When he has to pretend to be her boyfriend for real, he discovers that it isn’t as hard as he thought it would be. He begins to want for this to be more than just an assignment.

Jordan will do anything to get her brother out of jail, even if it means working with the FBI especially Nick. he rubs her wrong from th very first meeting.  But she can’t deny that she is attracted to him, and that he appeals to her on a level she isn’t exactly comfortable with. When she finally gives into her attraction she knows that it has changed everything for her, and she wonders if she will ever be more than an assignment to Nick.

I loved this book. The snark between Jordan and Nick was awesome, then there is the brother that looks like Sawyer from Lost. I did find myself hoping that Jack and Cameron from Something About You would show up, and they did, making this book just a bit better.

If you are looking for a great contemporary story, with hero’s that have just a bit of tarnish, and heroines that don’t let the hero’s get away with to much, then you will want to read this book.
