I read a lot of books, some of them grab me right away and some of them don’t, and every once in awhile I get a book that sucks me in from the very first paragraph and doesn’t let go till I have finished it. This book is one of those books.

Five years later, Regan returns—a proper lady and ravishing beauty. Miss Swann’s Academy for Young Ladies has taught her how to behave in polite society. But all the training in the world cannot extinguish her love for Dare. Now, she hopes to beat the master of seduction at his own game—by daring Dare to love her in return. This time, both of their hearts are on the line…and winner takes all.
Regan knows exactly what she wants, to irritate her brother because he sent her away for kissing one of his friends, seduce Dare (the same friend that she kissed), and take the Ton by storm. She manages to do two of the three.
I loved Regan, she wasn’t one of those very annoying heroines you tend to get in historical romances. She wasn’t going to pull any punches in getting what she wanted, and boy does she. I loved how she boldly went about getting her man.
Dare thought that he had gotten rid of his pesky attraction to one of his best friends sister, and has even begun to go after a lady, that is until he spies the afore mentioned pesky sister at the theater, and realizes that he has been fooling himself for years.
There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t like about this book. The sparks between Regan and Dare are beautifully written, so that you can almost feel them coming off the pages. Then there is the little matter of her brother Frost, I am still not sure whether he wanted them to get together and did what he did, because he knew they were perfect for each other, or was he really and truly angry.
What I liked about this story was that while yes there was a conflict it is more about an internal conflict about going after what you really want. It is very much a straightforward romance, so much that you know that they both love each other, even when they don’t realize it.
I do have to say that I can hardly wait for Frost to get his story, because I know that it is going to be a dozy. I loved this book so much that I am now going to go and get the other two books in the series.

I was meh about the first book because the h/h spent so little time together on screen – always in a rescue situation, it seemed. But I liked her writing enough to read the 2nd one. I liked that much better than the 1st one. So this one sounds pretty good. Will definitely be on the lookout for it.

Lori, I haven’t read the others in this series, but I loved this book, I think because they had so much history together it made it all the better.
It has been awhile since I read a Victoria Alexandra book, though I do keep buying them. I did love them, time to pick one up again.
I’ve loved the first two books and have this one on pre-order. These books have both stirred something in me that kept the book in my hand. I couldn’t put them down. I so look forward to receiving AFTER DARK WITH A SCOUNDREL.
