BlurbMakayla never thought she’d set foot in an elite mixed-martial arts club. But if anyone needs a medic on hand, it’s these guys. Then again, at her first sight of the club’s owner she’s the one feeling breathless.
The man they call Torment is all sleek muscle and restrained power. Whether it’s in the ring or in the bedroom, he knows exactly when a soft touch is required and when to launch a full-on assault. He always knows just how far he can push. And he’s about to tempt Makayla in ways she never imagined…

Thoughts:  This book is just scorching hot.  You can feel the sparks flying between Makayla and Torment from the start!  I love the witty banter, the innuendo, their sexy texts back and forth between each other, the secondary characters, and the story line revolving around the MMA.  This book was so fun and entertaining – it was just a real joy to read.  I couldn’t fly through the pages fast enough!  I really loved it.  I think fans of Jaci Burton and her play by Play series would really connect with this story as well.  But with all that said there are a few issues with it.

I really could have done without the whole collection agency aspect of the story and how they were harassing Makayla for money having to do with her student loans.  First off, it just didn’t seem like a real representation for me, and two, it really didn’t pertain to the overall story.  In my opinion it would have been better if it had been left out altogether.  It was more of an annoyance in the book than anything else.

Another issue, is Torment himself.  I love reading about alpha males personally, and I loved, loved, LOVED him, but he was very domineering at times.  Almost over the top in some cases.  Enough that I think that he might put off some people.  While it was usually done in an attempt to look out for Makalya’s well being, sometimes it just came off wrong.  But the author does a good job toward the end having Makayla come up with her own inventive ways of getting around him and keeping him from running all over her.  But if this type of character really gets your goat, you might want to pass on this one.

Overall, an excellent read  – and I am hoping the author comes up with some more titles centered around this one.  I would love for some of the other characters to get their own book.
