An Angel All His Own (The Gifted Realm Book 5) by Jillian Neal

An Angel Of His OwnTitle: An Angel All His Own (The Gifted Realm Book 5)

Series: The Gifted Realm

Author: Jillian Neal

Genre: Fantasy, Contemporary, New Adult

Blurb: She’s everything Dan Vindico has ever wanted. Fionna Styler embodies every single thing he told himself could never exist inside of one woman. She’s beautiful, smart, funny, powerful, and she’s his… almost.

No one can know they’re together. The Interfeci would never let her live. It was an inevitability, but Dan simply cannot resist her.

After a vow to somehow keep her safe, Dan learns what that really entails. Betrayal, scandal, millions of dollars, and watching her in the arms of other men are only the beginning, when danger intrudes into every sanctuary he secures.

Dan can’t determine if the demons in his soul or the monsters outside are more vicious, but Fionna’s life depends solely on him. That blasted tomb is ever-present in his mind. Can he save the Angel who managed to pull him from the depths of hell, the one he longs to make his own?

Thoughts: This is the first book I’ve read by Jillian Neal and it won’t be my last. The one difficulty that I had with the book was it not really being a stand alone read. If you haven’t read book 1-4 you may be a little lost in the beginning as I was. Secondly, if you believe you will be entertained with a holiday story by the title you’ll be disappointed but you won’t be disappointed if you love a man who isn’t only handsome but kick ass as well then this book is for you.

The story is told in not only our hero Dan Vindico’s strong point of view but several others. I believe by doing this the author was able to pull us in to each character individually and allow us to see what they see.

Dan Vindico appears to have been through a lot and is still struggling with all of it in his personal life as well as his work life. Can things get anymore complicated? Enter our heroine Fiona Styler. He has vowed to keep her safe but can his heart survive seeing Fiona with other men? The betrayal? Can he save the Angel who brought him back from the depths of hell and make her his own?

The way Jillian Neal writes this story with a twist of paranormal aspects with the gifts that Fiona has and the non-gifted is very entertaining. Reading about this world is fascinating and has you wondering how much of it is really fantasy.

I definitely will be reading Books 1 – 4 and then re-reading this one.

Grade: A-/B+
