Archangel’s Consort

Archangel’s Consort

Guild Hunter bk 3

Nalini Singh

Once again Nalini manages to capture the reader from the first page and transport us completely into her world of Archangels. angels and vampires, and make us believe that it is all real.

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil…

A vampire has attacked a girls’ school—the assault one of sheer, vicious madness—and it is only the first act. Rampant bloodlust takes vampire after vampire, threatening to make the streets run with blood. Then Raphael himself begins to show signs of an uncontrolled rage, as inexplicable storms darken the city skyline and the earth itself shudders.

The omens are suddenly terrifyingly clear.

An ancient and malevolent immortal is rising. The violent winds whisper her name: Caliane. She has returned to reclaim her son, Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena, the consort who must be destroyed…

With each book in this series we get a little more insight into who Raphael and Elena are, and why they are absolutely perfect for each other.

Elena is back in New York after being in a coma for a year as she made the transition  from human to angel, and had a little side adventure in China. Everything has changed and yet somethings haven’t. Her father still hates her, even though he is need of her help.

Raphael is Raphael, and will do anything to make Elena happy within reason of course. What he never expected was for him to have to deal with family issues once they got back to NY as well.

This book is rich in family dynamics, and touches on all those feelings we all have about our families, whether they are good or bad, and how far we will go to protect that family no matter how much they may hurt us. How far a sister will go to protect her sister, and what a mother will do to save her child.

Not only are Elena and Raphael rich characters but the members of Raphael’s Seven add great depth to this story and also to Raphael, each member of the Seven are very different from each other, and yet as a whole they make for a family that while they may drive each other nuts, will do anything to protect the two people that are the core of that family.

There is just something about this series that grabs at you and won’t let you go. In this reviewers opinion it is one of the best paranormal series.
