Bare it All by Lori Foster

bare it allTitle: Bare It All

Series: Love Undercover bk 2

Author: Lori Foster

Genre: Contemporary

As the person responsible for taking down a brutal human trafficker, Alice Appleton fears retaliation at every turn. No one knows about her past, which is exactly how she prefers it…until the sexy cop next door comes knocking.

Detective Reese Bareden thinks he knows what makes women tick, but his ever-elusive neighbor keeps him guessing like no other. Is his goal to unmask Alice’s secrets? Or protect her from a dangerous new threat? One thing is certain: their chemistry is a time bomb waiting to explode. And with no one to trust but each other, Reese and Alice are soon drawn into a deadly maze of corruption, intrigue and desire-and into the line of fire….

I’m a huge Lori Foster fan so I get really excited when I see a new book by her coming out. While I’m not a huge fan of this series I do like two some of the secondary characters we’ve seen lately and I can’t wait for their books to come out.

Bare It All picks up right where Run the Riske ends, which I really liked because we got to see just how much it costs Alice to let Logan, Pepper and Dash into her apartment.

Alice is the secretary for the bad guy in Trace of Fever…and I have to admit I didn’t realize that was who she was until she started letting Reese her story.  And I have to admit that her character in this book didn’t inspire me to remember her or like her more.

Reese was a great character and I really liked him, and I liked how he went about getting information from Alice, but I never bought into them as a couple.

For me one character really stole the book and that was Rowdy. I found myself skimming the parts where he wasn’t in the scene and reading his parts only. The chemistry between him and Avery is such that I’m expecting great things from Rowdy’s book.

While I didn’t connect with Alice and found her a very forgettable character, I did enjoy the other characters in the book enough that it kept me reading as I wanted to know what was going to happen next. There is also the added mystery of what is going on with Logan’s brother Dash and Logan’s LT.

Over all this was a well written story with a compelling plot and great secondary characters to hide the fact the heroine was all that great. I can’t wait to see what happens in Rowdy’s book.
