Bengal’s Quest by Lora Leigh

cover62065-mediumTitle:  Bengal’s Quest

Series:  The Breeds Book #30

Author:  Lora Leigh

Genre:  Romance, Paranormal

Blurb:   He was a shadow, ever shifting and insinuating, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. The elusive ideal conceived and created by the Genetics Council, he went by just as many names as he had identities—the last one being Gideon.

Now calling himself Graeme, he hides in plain sight, terrifyingly close to his goal. A rogue Bengal Breed, he has loyalties to no one but himself. And he has a need for vengeance that surges hot and swift through his veins.

Graeme plans to exact an extreme and ruthless vendetta against those who wronged him—Breed and human alike. All will suffer his wrath: those who created him, those who pretended to love him, and those who betrayed him.

That includes the one at the center of it all: a seductive, enigmatic woman helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy.

And he’s on her scent…

Thoughts:  Okay, so I’ll be really honest – the general consensus for the Breed series is that it has really lost some of its appeal lately. Not that surprising really, when you’re going on book thirty in a series.   I have to admit some of the last few have waned a bit for me as well, but her books always keep me just interested enough to keep reading – to not give up on this series completely just yet. And my instincts were right! I was impressed with Bengal’s Quest – the whole feeling and just general vibe I had while reading this one reminded me more of the earlier books in this series.

That’s not to say you can jump right into this series without reading any of the prior books! The series is going on thirty books after all – that is a lot of backstory and character connections that you’ve missed. And there are A LOT of references to characters seen in previous books, storylines, events, etc. And, trust me, this book would be confusing enough without all that anyway! We have G, who Cat has known and loved since she was 12, who becomes Graeham – but he’s also Gideon. And Cat, who was also Fawn, but who also shares her body with the spirit, Claire…..you see what I mean about confusing? It all is explained and works itself out in the end, but can definitely be confusing – even for fans of the series. Those that have never read one of the books? I can see where you might get totally lost!

Not to say you can’t enjoy the series! Just start with some of the prior books first.

All in all – a great book to breathe some new life into an excellent series!

Lora Leigh introduced me to the world of erotic romance. I loved her Breeds series so much. I’m still waiting for Cassie to get her book. I have a vague memory of a Breed character called Fawn, but I’m not sure. I might go back and read this series again sometimes. I’m glad you enjoyed the book!
