Beyond Solitude by Kit Rocha

beyond solitudeTitle: Beyond Solitude

Series: Beyond bk  4.5

Author: Kit Rocha

Genre: Erotic, Dystopia

When a motorcycle accident leaves Derek Ford riding a desk at the O’Kane compound, the last thing he needs is a sexy new assistant upending his office and his life. But Mia isn’t scared of her domineering boss. The friction between them generates an undeniable heat—but Mia will not be kept, and Ford will do anything to protect what’s his.

A few notes:

Unlike Beyond Temptation, this story stands separate from the main series plotline, with a tight focus on the hero and heroine as they travel through some parts of the Sectors we don’t usually get to show

Thoughts: In the off chance you are new to TBRG I will tell you that I’m completely in love with this series and tell everyone I know that they need to read it. Each book in the series gets better and better.

One of the things I love about novellas in a series like this one, is we get the stories of the guys who aren’t the main characters, the ones on the fringes of the world. Ford is one of those characters. He’s had very little page time in the other books and yet when he has appeared he’s been freaking amazing.

Unlike the other books where I was all about the heroine and her finally getting her man…or men in the case of Rachel, for me this book was all about Ford and his journey.

Basically Ford is having a pity party of one, and doesn’t want or need anyone’s help. When Mia falls into his lap, or office it throws him more off balance than he already is. Along the way he makes some big missteps that put Mia in danger and forces him to make some changes.

Mia unfortunately wasn’t that rich of a character for me to really connect with. While she was exactly what and who Ford needed she didn’t do anything for me.

Over all I really liked this story. It didn’t advance the overlying story arc that is happening in the series, but it gave a glimpse of those people on the fringes of the world, but who Dallas depends on to keep Sector Four at the top of the food chain.
