Big Bad Beast

Big Bad Beast

Series: Pride bk 6

Shelly Laurenston

When it comes to following her instincts, former Marine Dee-Ann Smith never holds back. And this deadly member of a shifter protection group will do anything to prove one of her own kind is having hybrids captured for dogfights. Trouble is, her too-cute rich-boy boss Ric Van Holtz insists on helping out. And his crazy-like-a-fox smarts and charming persistence are making it real hard for Dee to keep her heart safe…

Ric can’t believe his luck. He’s wanted this fiercely-independent she-wolf from day one, but he never expected teamwork as explosive as this. And now is his last chance to show Dee what she needs isn’t some in-your-face Alpha male-but a wily, resourceful wolf who’ll always have her back in a fight…and between the sheets.

This is the first book in this series that I have read and I have to say that I am kicking myself that I have never picked this series up. I have added all the previous books to my ever growing tbr pile.

Ric and Dee-Ann come from two completely different worlds and are complete opposites in everything, and yet they are completely perfect for each other, as they give each other balance. Ric is the head chef in his family’s restaurant, is very wealthy, and believes in comfort. Dee-Ann is a soldier, she is a former marine and current member of the shifter protection group, and she usually attacks first and asks questions later. One of her favorite things to do is to break into Ric’s apt when he is there, or not. Ric’s favorite thing to do besides try and talk Dee-Ann into his bed is to feed her.

Dee-Ann and Ric have this chemistry that is just plain fun to watch. There was nothing about them that I didn’t like. They met for the first time as children and she fascinated Ric even then.

I really could go and on about this book and the characters and how there were times that I laughed out loud. Like scene with rat that scared the crap out of both Dee-Ann and Ric. But I have decided that this is a book that everyone needs to discover for themselves. If I wrote everything that I liked about this book I would be re-writing the book and I don’t want to do that.

I am just going to tell everyone that they need to read this book.

Laurenston is a sure fire hit for me and never fails to make me laugh out loud. This series (and Magnus) and her dragons (as GA Aiken) are like my comfort food and almost better than chocolate LOL. I have to say that this book is a much easier read when you already know all those secondary characters (previous heroes and heroines) that keep popping up all over the place. As a die hard fan of the series, it was an “A” because it felt like a gift to fans, if that makes sense? Just seeing all the previous characters come back and not just for show was great.

I absolutely loved it that she didn’t back off from making Dee-Ann an ubber bad ass and Rick was an amazing Beta hero who is totally secure with the fact that his mate can kick his ass. LOL.

I have one of her books in my TBR. Obviously time to move it up the list.

The first Laurenston book I read was HERE KITTY,KITTY. I laughed so hard and was so in love with the characters that I had to find more of her books. She also writes about Dragon Shifters under G.A. Aiken. They are just as good. You must read all books under both names. You will not regret it.
