Body Heat

Body Heat

Heat Series bk 2

Brenda Novak

What do you get when you have two hard headed characters with issues of trust regarding each other from when they were teen-agers and huge chips on their shoulders? You get a  lot of sexual tension, snarky comments and a great book.

Brenda hits another one out of the ball park with the second installment of her Heat trilogy,. This was a book that I couldn’t stop reading. I loved every page turning moment, as Rod and Sophie dealt with their past, worked on teh future adn tried to find out who the murderer was.

Rod is one of those hero’s that you love, adn want to step out of the pages of the book and into your living room or your bedroom if you would rather. He had made something of himself, despite his childhood, so when he goes back to the town that had treated like dirt growing up, he of course has to rent the biggest baddest car he can, a Hummer.

Sophie has to prove herself as the chief of police and will not let anyone solve her crime, teh murders, but her. So when Rod comes back to town and on his heels the FBI, who want Rod’s help in solving the murders, to say that she is hot under her collar is an understatement.

To say that the sparks flew in this book would be to say that there are no fireworks on the 4th of July. There are a lot of them here.

This book has definitely lived up to it’s name and is a schorching hot read. If you missed the first book in the  series don’t worry you can read this one without reading that one as it can be read as a stand alone.
