His game… her rules.

The Promise Harbor Wedding, Book 3

Hockey star Jackson Knight has a hundred reasons not to return to Promise Harbor, but none of them are good enough to get him out of attending his best friend’s wedding. Even with a career-ending knee injury, every puck-bunny in town will be gunning for him.

Worse, getting a pair of cuffs slapped on him at the bachelor party could ruin any chance of getting back in the game, even as a coach. Unless he can convince the arresting officer to smooth things over—by going to the wedding as his date.

Hayley Stone figures posing as Jackson’s girlfriend is the least she can do to salvage his reputation. Plus, having a man with a toe-curling smile on her arm will keep her ex off her back.

What starts as a simple plan to deflect small-town pot-shots unexpectedly becomes a sizzling night that hits Jackson like a full-body-check to the heart. Now he’s determined to prove that she’s the best of reason of all to come home—for good.

From the first book in this series I’ve been hooked.  Jilted and Bolted were both fabulous installments, each one building on what happened at the wedding that didn’t.

In Busted we get the stories of the groom’s best friend and the man who stopped the wedding’s best friend. Haley and Jackson were an interesting couple to read. Both of them were living down pasts, and going through a rough patch.

When Hayley arrests Jackson she has no clue the series of events that it set in motion. Events that leave her stressed out, and more than a little ansty where Jackson is concerned.

Jackson is struggling to put his life back together. His hockey career is over and he needs a good image to be able to stay in the NHL. This whole story line lost me, I got the reason why his career was over, his injured knee. BUT the story line that alcohol was involved would have been disproved at the time of the accident, because they would have done a blood alcohol test on him and found he was sober. It just seemed to me stretching a bit her to make for a better story line on why his reputation was in shreds.

Other than this I liked the story line, as Jackson and Hayley got to know each other as adults, and worked together to help renovate her grandfather’s house, their chemistry was palpable. They both struggle with the emotions they evoke in each other. Not sure what to call each other.

We also get a bit more insight into Gavin (he’s the guy who broke up the wedding and the hero of the next book) and why he did what he did. I can’t wait to read his story.

I will say this, for the couple of things that bugged me, the story kept me engaged and turning the page when I’d only meant to read a couple of chapters, instead I read the book in one sitting.

Grade B+

I am looking forward to reading this series! (Maybe the arrest & suspicion of alcohol would be enough to tarnish his name, even if it is false? You know the press!)Thanks for the review!
