Fall Reading Challenge: Read an author that last name or first name starts with “S” for September

Love has a flavor all its own.…

Famous in Paris, infamous in London, Verity Durant is as well-known for her mouthwatering cuisine as for her scandalous love life. But that’s the least of the surprises awaiting her new employer when he arrives at the estate of Fairleigh Park following the unexpected death of his brother.

The lawyer Stuart Somerset worked himself up from the slums of Manchester to become one of the rising political stars of England’s Parliament. To him, Verity Durant is just a name and food is just food, until her first dish touches his lips. Only one other time had he felt such pure arousal—a dangerous night of passion with a stranger, a young woman who disappeared at dawn. Ten years is a long time to wait for the main course, but when Verity Durant arrives at his table, there’s only one thing that will satisfy Stuart’s appetite for more. But is his hunger for lust, revenge—or that rarest of delicacies, love? For Verity’s past has a secret that could devour them both even as they reach for the most delicious fruit of all.…

REVIEW: I chose this book because of the many reviews and glowing references to this author, however I think I picked a dud of a book. I had a REALLY hard time getting past page 4 in this book. However I persevered and got to chapter 2 and was still struggling and so I skimmed the rest of the book and then read the end. This is how un-into this book I was, I can normally remember everything that I read however I can’t remember anything about this book. Now I did read the exerpt from her next book in the back of this book and I REALLY want to read that one as it grabbed me from the first paragraph. So all of you that *gasped* when I said I didn’t like this book, I haven’t sworn off this author, just this book.

I loved this book!! But then, I have seen others love a book I couldn’t get into, so I totally understand!

Sometimes I wonder if it’s my mood or something – like, would I like a book differently if I was in a different mood when I read it? I dunno!

But I hear ya on the “not getting” it part. I did get this one! sorry it didn’t tickle your fancy!
