Destiny by Carly Phillips

Title: Destiny

Series: Serendipity bk 2

Author: Carly Phillips

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Nash Barron may be cynical about love, yet even he likes a good wedding. But the only good thing about his brother’s wedding is Kelly Moss. Nash can’t help but admire her confidence and beauty, but he’s forced to keep his distance because getting involved with Kelly could destroy his relationship with his newly discovered half sister, Tess…

Kelly came to Serendipity to give Tess–her half sibling as well, thanks to an illicit affair–a second chance at life. She learned long ago not to rely on anyone but herself. Besides, she doesn’t want to upset Tess’s life by pushing for a fling with Nash. Except the more she gets to know him, the more vulnerable she becomes to the kindness beneath his gruff exterior, and the less she’s able to stay away. But she has other reasons for keeping her distance. Like the secret from her past she knows Nash will never forgive…

Carly Phillips is one of the best storytellers there is. I have loved each of her series, and they get better and better. However my absolute favorite series of hers is Serendipity. I love the idea that 3 brothers who haven’t spoken in years because of something that had happened can find their way back to being a family.

In the first book we meet the Barron brother’s and the sister they never knew about Tess. In Destiny we get Nash’s story. Nash is the middle brother and the one that can’t forgive Ethan. We also find out more about Tess’s sister Kelly.

I love Nash. Even in the Serendipity I loved Nash. There was so much anger and hurt in him. Not only had his parents been killed but the older brother he loved and worshiped abandoned him and their younger brother, then he was separated from his younger brother. Throw in all the guilt he felt for loving his new parents, an ex-wife he still loves, just not in that way, and this burning attraction he has for Tess’s sister Kelly and well you have Nash.

Kelly has been raising Tess ever since Tess’s dad died as her mom checked out of life. When she comes to Serendipity it is a last ditch effort to save her sister from herself. Kelly is also dealing with the fallout of a relationship that ended really bad. The way that Nash effects has her in knots. When she finds out that he’s the ex-husband of her new best friend Annie well that throws her for a loop as well. Then there is the fact that Tess doesn’t like Nash because Nash can’t forgive Ethan.

The chemistry between these two will make your pages smoke as well..

These two are one hot mess. However as they come together, and Nash discovers the truth of what really happened 10 years ago he has to decide what is really important his pride or his family.

This is one of those books that you simply can’t put down. From the moment I started reading it till I turned the last page I was completely caught up in the story. There were times where my heart broke for Nash and Kelly. When Nash and Ethan finally have their talk it is one of the most poignant scenes, as Carly truly understood the relationship between brothers, with all the anger, pride and love they have for each other.

When the book ended I was both happy and sad. Happy because Nash and Kelly were able to work through their problems and get their HEA but sad because I really really want to know what is going to happen to Dare. Once you read this book you will understand why I want Dare’s book so bad.

This is a book that you have to read. If you haven’t read Serendipity then you need to rectify this and read it before you read this book as it is definitely a series that you need to read in order.
