Series:  The Edge Book #3

Author:  Megan Crane

Genre:  Romance, Dystopian, Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Blurb:   Riordan is a ruthless warrior whose foes tremble before him in his drowned and ruined world. The last thing he wants to do is go undercover as a weakling to spy on his clan’s enemies. Much less with Eiryn – a fierce warrior in her own right and the only woman Riordan’s never been able to forget. He knows that a single touch will throw them straight back into that same old uncontrollable fire. But this time, he might just let them burn.

Eiryn has been betrayed too many times. An escape into a dangerous mission where she can pretend to be the soft, biddable female she’s not seems like the perfect solution. She’s sure she can control the fiery passion that simmers between her and Riordan, the man she’s spent years pretending to hate. After all, the unquenchable lust that flares between them now is all for show… isn’t it?

Thoughts:  One of the things I love most about being a reviewer is that fact that I get to stumble onto authors that I haven’t discovered yet and find a whole wealth of new reading possibilities!  Megan Crane is not an author I had read prior to this book, and from the beginning she immediately hooked me into this book (and by that same token – the series)!.  I absolutely loved the characters, particularly Eiryn….there is nothing I love more than a strong heroine that has a vulnerable side that is rarely seen.  Riordan is –of course- a likeable alpha male, however he is also one who can be a bit of a jerk when the situation warrants it.  I know I was looking for him to have a major epiphany and decide that he was going to fight for Eiryn – no matter the cost.  Being this big, bad warrior, I was looking for that moment and for it to really hit me hard as a reader.  It didn’t quite come about – or at least not to the extent that I had wished for.  After all the pain Eiryn had experienced, I felt she deserved that much – and on a much grander scale.  No matter, she gets her happily ever after and that is what really mattered.

I fell in love with the writer’s literary style and with the world she has built for these characters, and needless to say I will defiantly be checking out the prior books in this series – as well as keeping an eye out for her future works!
