This book is a bit different from other fantasy romances that I have read and I am still not quite sure what to make of it. I went to write this review right after I had finished the book, but I couldn’t finish it because I still wasn’t sure what I thought of the books.

It took me a while to get into this one, not because of outside forces, but because it really didn’t grab me right away. It took me a couple of chapters before I felt like I was beginning to understand the characters, and what they were about. I am glad that I stuck with it though.
Lady Cass, has a mission one that we know about right from the beginning, she is to assassinate the Fire Lord, the father of the man that she will be marrying. A very evil man. What she hadn’t counted on was her reaction to the man that she will marry. I think what bugged me the most about her was that she expected her husband to show her some feelings right away, despite the fact that he never showed any emotions, and had only met her a couple of times previously.
Prince Dominic is the Fire Lord’s Champion and his son. A son that he privately tortures on a very frequent basis. He is marrying against his wishes, and is determined that he will never feel anything for his wife. Now Dominic I got, he behaves much as we expect him to, and progress into feelings for Cass the way that makes you cheer for him, especially when you find out why he is the way he is, and what he really wants out of his life.
Over all this was a very good book, and I will be reading the rest of the books when they come out, despite the lack luster heroine in this one. If it wasn’t for her I would give this one a higher rating, but I just couldn’t get past her single mindedness that everything had to go her way.

I do have to say that I think if they had used Orlando Bloom as the elf on the cover or any of the other elves from LOTR’s the cover would have been oh so much hotter 🙂
This book will be available on July 6th.

I give this book a 3.75 out of 5
