Guest Blog by Jenn LeBlanc + giveaway

There are videos in this post so if they don’t load just hit refresh

One of my favorite people in the entire world is Jenn LeBlanc. Today we have her on to talk about her FABULOUS book The Rake and the Recluse.

Thank you Heather for hosting the WICKED blog tour! I’m so glad to be here today!

I have a few posts to write between now and March so I asked my faithful readers on Facebook what they wanted to hear from me and they came up with such GREAT suggestions that I made two posts with nothing but reader questions! It was fun, but there was one question I haven’t yet answered because it really deserves a post all to itself. This one:

Pamela: Do you listen to music while writing or shooting?

I do, both. I have a soundtrack for every book. I can tell you a little bit: Whenever Roxleigh is on his horse this song plays:

Roxleigh and Francine’s love song?

Is that a little cliché? It might be. I’ve been listening to this song for decades. Yes literally. Yes I just scared myself. Moving on. How many of you remember the movie that made it famous? Did you know the boom box was actually playing Reggae music because they didn’t have the soundtrack yet? Just a tidbit.

Also John Cusack (LOVE!!) is standing in a park, not anbywhere near anyone’s house. LOL!

Moving on!

The next song was a bit of a maundering song. Whenever Francine was sitting around the “palace” thinking about Rox, wondering about life, trying to find herself? This:

And this… when stuff happens, you know…stuff, no not THAT stuff, BAAAD stuff…it’s all Louis’ Revenge. Such a strong, powerful song. the crescendo, *swoon*

The next song, it gets me. I love U2, let me just put that right out there. SO this duet with Bono and Frank Sinatra is incredible and represents Gideon and his inability to shale these feelings he has for Francine, but it’s from Perry’s point of view because it is so fun and jovial in tone. The first few notes of Bono’s voice in this though… *dies*

Gideon leaves Francine out of fear, of himself, of the future, of these powerful emotions fighting their way out of his soul. But he returns.

And this, when Gideon leaves, when she learns the truth, when the horrible secrets are revealed. Sometimes you just want to cry. Don’t you?

Seriously. There are several love songs in the playlist, this is another.

And when I said I love U2? Yeah, so this one, because Gideon feels like he is saved, but he can’t find up from down and he is constantly being tripped up by the paradox in his life. Gideon is definitely tripping through Francine’s wires. He’s a hot mess. Victorian style.

Of course, he does figure it out, and when he does…hallelujah.

And God only knows what comes next…Strip!!

So I’ll leave you with this, because if you actually watched ALL of those videos you have been here for awhile!

This video is just a bunch of WTFckry. Seriously. The 80s. What was going on there? *shakes head* Adam Ant, you should have kept to the Regency. 😉

Oh have one more! The trailer for TRATR!!

I hope you had fun with this little tour de playlist. There are a few more songs on the list, but these were the really good ones.

A woman out of time.

A man stifled by propriety.

A nemesis determined to take her away.

A brother to the rescue.

How will a powerful Duke deal with a woman who doesn’t know her place? How will a woman used to the 21st century survive in time where she is considered property?

Francine Larrabee woke up on the wrong side of the century. She was fairly certain she went to sleep in her own comfy bed, but she doesn’t quite seem to be there now. Only adding to her problems is that she has no voice, is constantly being glowered at by a large, stunning man who is obsessed with propriety, and she is apparently betrothed to another horrid little man, determined to ruin her, and any other girls that get in his way.

How does she find herself in the past, when she couldn’t even find herself in her present? How does a self sufficient businesswoman survive in a time when women were still considered property for the whole of their lives and what is she going to do with this man who draws her to him so fiercely.

Where to get the books:

FREEDOM : Part one brings Francine to the world of the Duke of Roxleigh, clashing worlds in first installment of the completely revised novel, with all new material.

  2. Jeanne Miro

I still can’t believe that I was fortunate enough to win the first four “installemnts” of The Rake and the Recluse but no I won’t tell you what ended up happening in Ruination! You’ll just have to wait and get it yourself!

When I first received it my first inclination was to read it straight thru but to be true to reading a “serial novel” I decided to read one section at a time. I really glad that I did because it really built the suspense. (I must admit I didn’t wait too long in between because I just had to find out what would happen next!).

Okay I admit it – The Rake and the Recluse is my “guilty pleasure” and I can no longer kid my husband of 41 years about the Playboys he used to read when we were dating!

Fortunately anyone who hasn’t already started reading the series should be sure to check it out because there is still time to read Freedom, Found, and Taken before Ruination is released January 31st and your going to want to start now so you’ll be on track for Submission and Retribution coming out in February.

  12. Renee Brown

You are new to me! Can’t wait to read!

  13. Jenn LeBlanc

Hello Tin! Welcome to the tour. 🙂

Hi Renee! Nice to *meet* you. 🙂

  14. Sarah Bibi Setar

Wow! The blurb certainly has me intrigued. There’s nothing I love more than a good time-travel romance and I especially love it when women go into the past and don’t let men trample over them and shock society with their 21st century behaviour. Waterfall by Lisa T Bergren was just such a book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I would love to read this book, as I’m sure it will be an enjoyable read!
