Her Sky Cowboy by Beth Ciotta

her sky cowboyTitle: Her Sky Cowboy

Series: The Glorious Victorious Darcy’s

Author: Beth Ciotta

Genre: Steampunk Romance

Amelia Darcy has no interest in marrying well. Her heart belongs to the sky and the dirigibles of brass and steel that swoop over Victorian England. But when her father, an eccentric inventor, dies, the Darcy siblings are left with scrap metal—and not a penny to their names. Their only hope to save the family reputation and fortune is to embark on a quest to discover an invention of historical importance in honor of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee.

Armed with only her father’s stories of a forgotten da Vinci workshop, a mechanically enhanced falcon, and an Italian cook, Amelia takes flight for Florence, Italy. But her quest is altered when her kitecycle crashes into the airship of ex-Air Marshal—and scandalous dime novel hero—Tucker Gentry.

Tuck agrees to escort Amelia to her destination, but the two are challenged by political unrest, a devious sky pirate, and their own sizzling attraction. Soon the pair is dragged into an international conspiracy that could change the course of history…again.

Ok I’m not going to lie I picked this book up to read because of the cowboy on the cover of the book. I mean come on, isn’t he yummy. I very quickly fell in love with Tuck however and ate up his portion of the story.

Having never read a steampunk book before I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, so I was pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed the story.  It did however take me awhile to get into the story and I think that had more to do with her having to set up the world and the story set up. Once the story got going however I was all in.

I do have to say I like Tuck more than Amelia, as she grated on my nerves a lot. It wasn’t really until about half way through the book where she stopped being annoying and I really started enjoying her.

I love anything that has to do with Leonardo Da Vinci so I loved their search for his mysterious device. When everything went to hell in a hand basket I wasn’t sure how it was going to be resolved but I have to admit I LOVED how everything worked out for Amelia and especially Tucker.

All that being said I really liked the book and can’t wait for the next book in the series which continues the adventure of the Darcy’s siblings with one of Amelia’s brother’s who I admit I am more than a little intrigued with.

On a side note, while I was reading this book I put it on my kitchen table and my youngest was drawing so he drew the cover of the book only it’s his interpretation. I wish I knew where it was so I could attach it here…as soon as I find it I will be posting it.
