Genevieve McInnis is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen’s rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress—something warm, wicked, and tempting.

Bowen seizes his enemy’s keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He’s enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer’s skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her—even if it means losing her forever.

Both Heather and Helen read this book…

Helen’s Review:

This book is an exciting Scottish Historical Romance. Book 2 of “The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, but can be read as a standalone.  A fast paced story filled with betrayal, passion, forgiveness, and love. Genevieve McInnis was once a beautiful lass, now scarred for life all she wants is freedom. Then comes Bowen Montgomery, who is determined to save her and free her from her tormentors and demons. Genevieve was held captive by a cruel laird and his son, at the McHugh Keep, her family was told she was dead Killed in a carriage accident. Bowen was sent to the McHugh Keep to storm its walls and claim for the Montgomery’s. Genevieve’s spirit may be bent but it’s not broken. In Bowen someone who doesn’t see her scars but her spirit. If you love someone set them free if they comeback there yours.  I loved this story! I love me some Scottish Highlanders, and their feisty lasses. I love Maya’s Highlander series and recommend them again and again.

Heather’s Review:

When it comes to Highlander stories no one is writing them better, at least for me, than Maya Banks. With each book she manages to reach in and grab my heart and squeeze every single emotion she can from me. From the first page to the last with this book my emotions were engaged. I laughed and I cried, oh how I cried. Her Highlander books really need to come with a must have Kleenex warning.

I didn’t think Maya could top a Highlander like Alaric the hero in her book Seduction of a Highland Lass, but how she does. My heart broke for Bowen so much when he does what he does because he knows it will make her happy.

Genevieve’s story is so heart wrenching tragic. I wanted to draw her into my arms and comfort her. When Bowen figures out the truth of her life he wants to kill the bastard who destroyed her future, and is powerless to do so as his brother already killed him.

I loved everything about this book and have already read it twice.

I can’t wait for this to come out. The last book in her McCabe trilogy had me in tears. I love her Highlander books and hope she has many more to write.

I heard so much fab about this series! I just haven’t been able to get finacially yet :(. With the trilogy before, they go together right? so pretty much would need to read first trilogy first (I’m obsessed in reading books in order, LOL). As much as I love reading regency and Victorian, I love read medieval and those MIK (men in kilts)! It was so good reading your review!

I’m enjoying your blog. So many authors that posted here I’ve read and others not, so its a joy to chat romance books here!
