Blurb:   With a little help—and a little kink—from her friend, she might just get her man. In the Line of Duty, Book 5 Skylar Redmond’s Sky Bar is regularly wall-to-wall hot soldiers. Yet she is alone—and getting tired of it. Forget about finding a man who’ll rock her world in the bedroom. She’ll settle for a guy who’s stable, kind and compassionate. Too bad that guy still sees her as the pigtailed girl from their youth, not the strongwoman she is today. But maybe, with a little help, that’ll change. As an ex-military field ambulance technician, Matt James excels at performing under pressure. Pretending to be interested in Skylar to help her capture the attention of his best friend? Piece of cake—because he won’t be faking it. He’s been in love with her since their school yard days, but never pushed it. She deserves someone who can offer her more. A touch leads to a kiss, and a kiss to a night that throws a kink—or three—into Sky’s plan. Leaving her wondering if she’s going for the wrong man…and letting the right one slip through her fingers. Warning: This book contains a girl with her eyes on the wrong prize, and a half-cocked plan—but definitely not a half-cocked hero.

Thoughts:  Sky has recently been looking at her friend with new eyes – romantic ones. And one of her friend’s has been looking at her the same way – only not the right one! Or could it be that the wrong one winds up being the perfect one for her?

Sky decided to enlist Matt’s help in trying to get their mutual friend’s attention as a woman – but Matt has had a thing for her for years and seeing her with somebody else is a trial. The problem is that he isn’t good enough for her either! But the sparks fly between them and Sky is quick to realize that Matt is the one she really wants. This type of book is usually a sure read for me – I love the best friend/crush theme – however, I really didn’t get Matt’s whole hang up regarding the ‘not good enough for her’ viewpoint he has. It definitely wasn’t enough in my opinion to keep them apart. It kind of seemed like a silly reason for them not being together. There just wasn’t enough there to have me feeling for Matt and sympathizing for his character because he has all this stuff in his past. I just didn’t feel like his reasoning rang true. Not to mention the fact that there was never really any substance to Sky’s feelings for the other friend – it seemed a bit like she was settling for him just because she was lonely – no chemistry at all there. Or even a small spark.

An enjoyable read overall, but probably not one I’ll be coming back to re-read frequently.
