Holiday Recipe & Traditions Exchange: Sugar Cookies by Katie Lane

Today’s recipe is coming from Katie Lane and she’s sharing some delicious sugar cookies with us.

Katie Lane Family Sugar Cookies

¾ cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon almond extract

2 ½ cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

Cream butter and sugar with a mixer.  Mix in almond extract and eggs one at a time.  Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt and gradually add to the butter and egg mixture until incorporated.  Refrigerate dough for 3 hours or overnight.  Roll out dough and cut into shapes, place on ungreased cookie sheets, and bake at 375 degrees until set. (7 to 8 minutes)  Cool and frost with your favorite vanilla cream frosting.

The five books I would love to get from Santa:

A Cowboy for Christmas by Lori Wilde,

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet by  Darynda Jones,

Last Chance Christmas by Hope Ramsay,

Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern,

Mistletoe Cowboy by Carolyn Brown

Happy Holidays everyone at The Book Reading Gals!  I hope you enjoy my family cookie recipe and be sure to stop by www.katielanebooks.com and say “hi” anytime.

Looks like a good recipe, but I don’t think I own a sifter! BTW, I read A Cowboy for Christmas, Last Chance Christmas & Mistletoe Cowboy & they were all great!

I have been eating so many cookies lately. Some of my favorite are the buter ones and sugar cookies like these.

I make sugar cookies with my granddaughter and my husband polished up our share in 2 days – I love the almond extract in them; gives them a great flavor.

Who wouldn’t like a sugar cooky? Or any kind of dessert for that matter.
