Thoughts: I was happy to get my hands on an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of this book – yet at the same time I was hesitant to start it because I knew it was the last book in this series. Now, I knew Geissinger would do an amazing job – every book she has written is simply amazing – but I knew that I would devout it so quickly and once I finished it that would be it. That would be it. No more wonderful stories with these amazing characters. But I trusted that Geissinger would give an ending befitting these characters and this amazing world she built – and she gives us that in spades with this book.
I loved Into Darkness – while Lumina is one of the more powerful of her kind, she is also one of the more innocent. Her character had such a purity of heart, yet at the same time was not afraid to shy away from what needed to be done. And Magnus – (sigh) – well, who doesn’t love an alpha male that will sacrifice everything for love? And kick some serious butt in the process?
I can see where the dramatic jump into the future could be a bit jarring from readers, but for me – the story was so well put together and smoothly transitioned that it wasn’t an issue. I definitely recommend coming into this one after having already read the other books in the series – there is just so much back history, characters, etc. that you need to really appreciate the story. I had been dying to see the story of the twins since their introduction to the series, and I’m glad I got to see them full grown and with mates of their own. A fitting end to an amazing series, and a real pleasure to read.
