The Windy City isn’t quite ready for Phoebe Somerville — the outrageous, curvaceous New York knockout who has just inherited the Chicago Stars football team. And Phoebe is definitely not prepared for the Stars’ head coach Dan Calebow, a sexist jock taskmaster with a one-track mind. Ceaebow is everything Phoebe abhors. And the sexy new boss is everything Dan despises — a meddling bimbo who doesn’t know a pigskin from a pitcher’s mound.

So why is he drawn to the shameless sexpot like a heat-seeking missile? And why does the coach’s good ol’ boy charm leave cosmopolitan Phoebe feeling awkward, tongue-tied….and ready to fight?

REVIEW: I picked this book up because it is on the ARR Top 100 and I am slowly making my way through it. I was a little nervous reading this book and author, because I have read so many things about her and that everyone loves her. It was slow moving for me in the beginning and I have to say that I couldn’t stand either Phoebe or Dan. There was one scene with Dan that I was not enjoying at and couldn’t believe that she had him to did, until almost the end of the scene when it was revealed that all was not what we thought. I felt for Phoebe as the story progressed and kept wishing that Dan would pull his head out of his ass which of course he finally does. All in all I really liked this book and will read the rest of the books in the series.

I agree about Dan and Phoebe. I reviewed this recently, too, and remarked how I love this book, but hate myself for it in the end. LOL

AAR is All About Romance http://likesbooks.com/home.html and they do a biannual Top 100 poll.

Now about the Chicago Stars – I have them all on audio, and find all the characters grew on me over time!! I have listened to them all 3 times in order and now feel like they’re family. Phoebe and Dan are like the Mom and Pop of the series.

My favorite SEP is Lady Be Good, though – not in the Stars series.
