Jacked Up By Erin McCarthy

Title: Jacked Up

Series: Fast track Bk 6

Author: Erin McCarthy

Genre: Contemporary

She’s holding tight. He’s hanging loose.

Eve Monroe is a stock-car PR pro who puts her career first—until an on-track wardrobe malfunction reveals more than the sexy smile of jackman Nolan Ford. The video’s become an internet sensation, and it’s Eve’s job to calm the sponsors and put a spin on the unexpected exposure.

And they both have the same drive.

It may be a public relations job, but now that Eve’s seen what’s under Nolan’s crew suit, it’s gotten personal. After a few dates she has Nolan pretty revved up. If only she’d learn to relax and enjoy it. Nolan’s sure that the spontaneous birthday bash he’s throwing for Eve in Las Vegas should loosen her up. Somewhere between cocktails and a smoking-hot motel-room derby, it does more than that. Now Eve’s wrestling with feelings she never expected, as everything about her personal jackman gets harder than she ever imagined.

Jacked Up is book 6 in Erin McCarthy’s Fast Track series and is about Eve Monroe.  Eve is the sister of Evan and Elec who have both had previous books in the series.

Eve is in charge of the family PR and her brothers have not made her life easy the past couple of years.  Creating scandal has been the rule not the exception.  Eve is commonly referred to as the ball-buster, the hard-ass, the one that has something stuck very far up her rear end.  It isn’t all about perception either.  Eve hate’s her life.  She hate’s her job.  She just isn’t happy.  But she loves her family. She constantly worries about everything and she feels like she will never move on with her own life.  Will she always be managing someone else’s problem and never get what she wants.

But she worried.

She couldn’t be the only person who worried.

Eve worried a lot. After all there was so much to worry about. Losing sponsors, her brothers losing points in the chase for the Cup, losing money, choking alone in her condo and dying, the cellulite she’d just found on her left ass cheek, not being married, Or even dating anyone, not having children, wanting to have children and not knowing if she could or not, the risk of cancer from using her cell phone, her parents dying.

All that worrying makes Eve kinda cranky.  Oddly enough, she is still likable and someone we can relate too.

Nolan Ford.  A man who is the total opposite of Eve.  He is a jackman for one of Eve’s brothers and he crosses paths with Eve when he has a wardrobe malfunction on national television.  A malfunction that involves pants ripping and bare bottoms.  Sometime during the lecture Eve gives Nolan, he decides that she needs to have fun and he is just the man to help her.  He asks her out for a drink and much to her own surprise Eve accepts.

Eve and Nolan are pretty comical together.  Nolan is lax which perfectly balances out Eve uptightness.  Eve doesn’t seem to understand how to let go and Nolan forces her to do just that.  It certainly helps that he has fabulously tight buns and serious smokin’ hotness vibes.

When Eve’s birthday rolls around, against the advice of her family, Nolan decides to throw her a party.  Eve is touched and this is about the time she feels she might be falling in love with Nolan.

Ms. McCarthy has a way of blending serious with crazy funny and sexy.  The characters each have their own issues that are in no way glossed over but they aren’t focused on to the point where you just want to yell at your pages.  If you are a follower of this series I think you will be love this latest book.  If you have not followed the series, this book can be read as a stand-alone.

Favorite Quote:

“That’s just an excuse,” she was saying.  “Wardrobe malfunction.  Give me a break.  Are you even listening to me?”

Nolan nodded.  “They do happen, you know,” he drawled, really savoring the moment of triumph.  Forcing his eyes off her chest, he let his grin win out.  “You seem to have one happening right now.”

He pointed to her blouse, wide open and catching the breeze.

She glanced down and turned as pink as the lace bra she was wearing.

“I think they call that tit for tat,”  he told her.

Her eyes narrowed.

A wise man would have run.
