Blurb: An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from her new boyfriend. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon, her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the farthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s ex is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

Mercy Rating:  B+

Thoughts: I have already been annoyed and irritated at the Pack’s reaction to Mercy for many books now.  I could really get it at first since she is so different of them in more ways than one.  But when you take into account all that Mercy has done and sacrificed for Adam and Jessie – not to mention the Pack and it’s various members – I steadily get more and more irritated at them.  Now?  Adam’s ex-wife is back.  Not only do I hate an ex that comes back into the picture and tries to play games to get what she wants, but then we have various Pack members trying to shame Mercy because of ‘poor’ Christy.  OMG, I was so ticked off through this book!  Number one, there are not many women who would put up with what Mercy did in this book.  Second, I grew more and more irritated with Adam and what I feel is not enough support on his part.  Even Jessie – of anyone – had more right to take her mother’s side in this little war for Adam…..gave Mercy more support.

I love Mercy and this series….and as usual it is an important one because as we all know, events usually wind up circling back around later on in another book.  And we just can’t miss the goings on each book!

But the whole Christy thing and the attitudes of various characters – even though it is still a good book – definitely made this my least favorite one of the series.
