and a fully loaded arsenal….

Ex–army ranger Jim Morgan leads a team of elite mercenaries, but eighteen years ago in Paris, he was part of a black ops unit whose mission was to hunt down a rogue operative. In order to trap the criminal, Jim seduced Noelle, the man’s daughter—a ruthless act that cost him the love of his life and turned her into a mortal enemy. Now he can’t trust her, but he still desires her. He also needs her help….

Older, wiser, and unwilling to play the fool again, Noelle runs a group of highly skilled assassins. And she’s just been offered the hit of the century: Eliminate Jim Morgan. History gives them no reason to trust each other, but with their lives in jeopardy at the hands of a common enemy, the lines between love and hate are soon blurred. Now Noelle and Jim must face the past if they want to have a future—let alone a future together.

Thoughts:  Book #5 in this series, Midnight Action, is the one readers have been waiting for! Finally, we are able to get the whole story on Morgan and Noelle, who has had my curiosity up since the very beginning of this series! And it does not fail to deliver! Of course, circumstances are a tangled web until close to the end of the book. Kennedy slowly reveals a little at a time – almost driving me crazy with my impatience to know what the whole deal is with Morgan and Noelle! What can I say, Kennedy an exceptional author who knows how to deliver a compelling story….and who knows how to draw the most from the story, including driving readers nuts and drawing a story out for utmost effect! J

I was thrilled with Midnight Action – so much is revealed within this one book, but Kennedy managed to string it along perfectly. Just the right amount of angst, drama, suspense, etc. The author had to know that the expectations were high for this book, and I have to praise her for just nailing it perfectly. While we may discover a few things that do not show some of our characters in the best light, it explained so many things! I won’t say more than that so as not to reveal spoilers, but to me it points out the humanity in theses characters. They are not without their faults and regrets in life.

I should point out that, although I usually praise the author on making each of these books in the series stand alone (even taking into account the in-depth storylines and numerous characters), I feel like this one is best read as part of the series. There is just so much history behind these characters!

Also, as a side note: there is a small bit of a M/M storyline developing between some secondary characters, so be aware of that.
