Series:  Killer Instincts Book #2

Author:  Elle Kennedy

Genre:  Romantic Suspense

Blurb:   She’s smart, seductive, and in way over her head.
He’s her only way out.

An undercover DEA agent has gone off the radar. Suspecting an internal mole, the government needs Luke Dubois and his elite team of operatives to recover their man, and the New Orleans native thinks he’s found his way inside the dark underbelly of Manhattan: Olivia Taylor, the girlfriend of a mob boss and the sexiest woman he’s ever laid eyes on. His new mission objective? Get past Olivia’s defenses and convince her to take a chance—on him.

All Olivia wanted was to finish law school and live a normal life, but that dream was shattered when one dangerous night put her deeply in a mobster’s debt. Now Luke and his team will help her escape—in exchange for intel on the missing agent. But Olivia doesn’t anticipate her intense attraction to the reckless Louisiana charmer or that she’ll be forced to risk everything—including her heart.

Thoughts:  I can’t believe how fast I have become a fan of this series! After reading book #1, Midnight Rescue, it is impossible not to continue on and binge read the entire series up until this point! The writing is amazing, with each book moving seamlessly into the next. Not only do you get the story from the main characters (in this case Luke and the non-agent Olivia), but you get small glimpses into other characters within the series – yet somehow the author still makes each one easy to jump right into as stand alones. Of course, as always I definitely recommend reading them in order for the most impact….:)

I can so easily see this whole drama as if it were a movie or a mini-series.

This book differs in that Olivia is not with either ‘team’ of assassins – she simply manages to get caught up in the mission that Luke is on – however, the attraction between these two is instant. While the plot itself doesn’t seem as if it would be something different for this genre, Kennedy manages to put her own stamp on things. And I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed it! Another hit for this series!
