Night Keepers (The Final Prophecy bk 1)
by
Jessica Andersen

Rating 4

As a Miami narcotics detective, Leah Daniels never knows how her day will turn out. But she certainly never expected to be strapped to a stone altar, the human sacrifice in an ancient Mayan ritual meant to coax up a demon from the underworld. Or that she’d be saved by a handsome warrior-priest king who claims to recognize her from his visions…

Jaguar Strike wishes he hadn’’t made the mistake of reuniting his fellow warrior priests, or broken the law by saving their chosen human sacrifice. Now, he has no choice but to join forces with Leah and invoke dangerous magic in a death-defying race against the end of time.

REVIEW: This is book 2 on the fall reading challenge where it was chosen based on the cover. The guy on the cover looked interesting ok he looks HOT and that is why I chose it. When it came time to read it I discovered that this is her first book. It is always risky in my opinion to read a first time author, however I really liked this one. It is a different twist on the paranormal scene. The romance was there but it was almost like it was an afterthought. It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did I couldn’t put it down. I am now invested in the story and can hardly wait for book 2 in the series. For anyone wanting to read a paranormal but doesn’t like vampires and weres this is a great read. Especially as there are people making a big deal out the Mayan calendar ending in 4 years. This book follows that prophecy.
