Series: Oklahoma Nights #1
Author: Cat Johnson
One Sweet Ride. . .
Oh yeah. A single look at the leggy blonde in the stands and Tucker Jenkins is ready to buck all night long. It’s time to forget all about his cheating ex and his usual hands off policy.
One Hot Night. . .
Becca Hart is an East Coast professor. Not a buckle bunny. But no degree can prepare her for the moves of the sexy bull rider she hooks up with at her first rodeo. . .or the shock of finding him at her first Oklahoma State University staff meeting.
One Happy Ending. . .
Tuck knows it’s all about holding on, no matter how wild the ride. Now he just has to convince Becca that a rough start out of the chute doesn’t mean they aren’t a smokin’ combination. . .
Where have I been that I have not read anything by this author before??!! This was my first time to read Cat Johnson and it will NOT be my last. So many parts of this book appealed to me: sexy cowboys, bull riders, a setting in Oklahoma (I grew up about 80 miles from Stillwater), 2 sisters that are also best friends – I could go on and on.
The story starts when Becca’s meddling sister, Emma, sends in her resume for a position at Oklahoma State University. Normally a move from New York to Stillwater, OK is something that Becca would never even consider but months after losing her job at Vassar she is running out of options. In town for an interview, the sisters meet bull riders Tuck and Jace at a local rodeo and the sparks fly between Tucker and Becca. They have an incredible one night together and reluctantly part ways thinking they will never see each other again.
WRONG! In a crazy twist of fate they both end up working at OSU and meet back up at a welcome event for Becca. Their connection is as strong as ever but both have failed relationships they are still getting over and are hesitant to acknowledge that their spark may be the real thing. Add in a non-fraternization rule that Becca is not aware of but Tucker is and our couple is bound for a bumpy ride. We’re thrown a major curve when Tuck signs on for a 6 month tour in the most dangerous region of Afghanistan. Seems a little extreme when you’re trying to avoid falling in love but the distance, danger and stress set up our characters to realize how they really feel about each other.
It’s a fast paced read that I could not put down because I had to know what happened! As an avid romance reader who enjoys a Happily Ever After, I finished this read with a tear in my eye as I was laughing out loud. Come on October! I can’t wait to read the next Oklahoma Nights book, Two Times as Hot!
