Resurrection by Katie Reus

Title:  Resurrection
Series:  Redemption Harbor Book #1
Author:  Katie Reus
Genre:  Romance

Blurb:  She faked her own death…Skye Arévalo left the CIA and faked her death to protect Colt Stuart, the only man she ever loved. Months later, a brutal kidnapping draws her to quietly infiltrate a dangerous cartel. Just when she thinks she’s home free, things go horribly wrong and she escapes with bloodthirsty enemies on her heels…only to find herself face to face with a bewildered and angry Colt.

He’ll cross every line to save her…When Colt, a former Marine, finds out the woman he loved betrayed him, he’s shocked and hurt, but it doesn’t stop him from breaking every law on the books to keep her alive. Unfortunately, it might not be enough to stop a powerful enemy who will do anything to see the world burn and Skye dead.

Thoughts: My thoughts on Resurrection? I thought I would be blown away, honestly. We have a guy who loves a woman so much that he has been grieving for her for months…then stunned by the fact that she is alive. We are talking about a woman who loved a man so much that she fakes the unthinkable…her own death…..to protect him. Can you imagine a better book that is set to wring every possible strong emotion from you? For me, I really expected a stronger emotional pull between these characters and a book that left you in shock and awe over how great it was – and it just fell a little short for me in that area.
I enjoyed the story and the characters, and I really liked how Colt discovered she was alive in the first place. I liked all the secondary characters and I look forward to other books in the series. I thought the end could have been a little less pat and predictable. As first books go, I thought it was a strong initial book for a new series that introduced all the characters and built the foundation for more.  I enjoyed it overall, but was expecting a bit more from this book.
