Review: A Court Of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas

Blurb:

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she’s struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can’t seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre’s Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta’s orbit. But her temper isn’t the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other’s arms.

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to dive into this story! I’ve truly loved the ACOTAR series thus far, and I just KNEW Nesta’s story would not disappoint!

I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Nesta. In the previous books, she came off cold and mean, but I always viewed her as someone who was hurting, and hurt people hurt people. Sometimes I think it’s easier to lash out and push people away than be vulnerable, and that’s exactly what Nesta was doing. Seeing it in her perspective; feeling how much self loathing she had broke my heart, but watching her heal and redeem herself stitched it back together.

Nesta was so real. Her pain, flaws, loyalty, and love are so clear in this book. She had me in tears and also brimming with pride. I love the friendships she built with Gwyn and Emerie. Those three had all gone through so much, but they were ready to heal and support one another. I love that Nesta found her tribe. And omg The House of Wind was amazingly unexpected but absolutely perfect.

And Cassian…Gah I love him. He understood Nesta better than anyone. He was patient, loving, and made sure Nesta knew he was ALWAYS there. He did not try to save her; he was just there to cheer her on, support her, and lend a hand when she needed it. Their chemistry was explosive. The steamy moments were STEAMY, but there were beautiful loving moments too.  This book was beautiful and so full of emotion. It’s truly a tale of love, redemption and healing. Nesta is a survivor and Cssian is her rock.
