Review: Rock Wedding by Nalini Singh

rock weddingTitle: Rock Wedding
Series: Rock Kiss #4
Author: Nalini Singh
Genre: Contemporary

After a lifetime of longing for a real family, Sarah Smith thought she’d finally found her home with rock star Abe Bellamy, even if she knew Abe didn’t love her the way she loved him. But their brief relationship, filled with tragedy and heartache, nearly destroyed her. Alone, emotions in turmoil, and already shaky self-esteem shattered, Sarah struggles to pick up the pieces in the wake of her divorce.
Abe knows he’s to blame for the end of his marriage, that there’s no excuse for the way he treated Sarah. Caught in a web of painful memories, he pushed away the best thing in his life – the sexy, smart woman he adores – breaking them both in the process. Then fate throws him a second chance to get things right, to prove to Sarah that she means everything to him. Abe wants that second chance at love – desperately – even if he knows he doesn’t deserve it.
But can he convince Sarah – now strong and independent without him – to risk her wounded heart one more time?

Thoughts: Rock Wedding is one of the best stories of redemption and forgiveness I’ve ever read, and as far as this reader is concerned puts Singh at the very top of this generations storytellers.

Over the course of this series we’ve watched Abe as he’s gotten clean and started to take back the life that drugs and alcohol stole from him. Of all the things he truly regrets it’s how the drugs made him treat his wife. Now that he’s clean he’s on a mission to get her back.

Sarah is a fantastic heroine. When everything went south with Abe she didn’t hide she rebuilt her life, and then it all fell apart again…only this time Abe is there to help her through it. While she doesn’t trust Abe to not break her heart she’s willing to give him a second chance.

I have to say that of all the books in this series this one is my second favorite behind Rock Hard. There is a lot of emotion, forgiveness and maturing that happens in a way that doesn’t make you want to hate either of them, but rather you will cry and laugh and root for them to work everything out and find their happily ever after.

I also really liked seeing all of the other couples’ weddings…with the exception of Gabriel and Charlie’s and I have to tell you I can’t wait for her to write that scene and his brothers stories.

Grade A
