Rowdy by Jay Crownover

rowdyTitle: Rowdy

Series” Marked Men bk 5

Author: Jay Crownover

Genre: New Adult

After the only girl he ever loved told him he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and decided he was going to do everything in his power to live up to his nickname. Life was all about a good time, good friends and never taking much too seriously. Rowdy learned his lesson early on, when you care that much about anything it can destroy you, and he never wants to risk feeling like that again. Only now he has a new coworker, a ghost from the past who’s making him question every lesson he ever learned.

Salem Cruz grew up in a house with too many rules, too many regulations, and no fun allowed. That never worked for her so she left it all behind as soon as she could, but she never forgot the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been in love with her little sister. Fate and good intentions from an old friend have placed her right in Rowdy’s path and she’s determined to show him he picked the wrong sister all those years ago. A mission that is going along perfectly until the one person that ties them together shows up and could very well tear them back.

Thoughts: I  have such mad love for this series. When I was sent Rome I had no clue what I was getting into and how I would fall in love with these bad boys. With each book I didn’t think that I could love that hero more than the last, and every time I’ve been wrong. If you read Nash you know how heartbreaking the ending of it was, and how it left with Rowdy. Because of this I’ve been salivating waiting for this book because as much as I wanted to know Rowdy it was going to bring me one book closer to the book I can’t wait to read. Asa.

Like all the books in this series, there is a lot things happening with they guys and no I’m not going to tell you what those things are because they are so amazing and impact them all in different ways.

Rowdy and Salem have a complicated past, one that Salem wants to get past and Rowdy wants to forget all about. Queue determined heroine. Salem with the help of Cora forces Rowdy to see past the girl who left Rowdy all those years ago – when Rowdy remembers that scene OMG it was heart breaking – and see the woman that Salem has become.

Just when Salem thinks that everything is okay with her and Rowdy and they are finally going to get the HEA they should have had years ago a giant wrench is thrown into the mix in the form of Salem’s little sister. The same sister who almost destroyed Rowdy, but not for the reasons that Salem has always thought. Salem is also finally in a position to be the sister she’s always wanted to be to her sister. No I’m not going to tell you why. Just know that it’s heartbreaking.

Rowdy has a lot to deal with in this book, more than Salem I think. He has to face his past, a past he hates, in the form of Salem, her sister, and the giant surprise from a source that rocks everything he thought he knew about his past and turns it on it’s head. To say that he doesn’t take it all well is an understatement, and I for one don’t think anyone would react differently if they were told the same thing. Salem helps him get through it, and forces him to deal with it when he needs to help Salem and her sister Poppy.

There are some other things that happen in this book to favorite characters that will change what happens next for these guys, especially Asa. We’re also introduced to new characters who change Rowdy in a way he never saw coming.

If you’re a fan of this series you definitely won’t want to miss this book. I can’t wait to see what happens next with Asa, I have a feeling based on what happens in Rowdy’s his story is going to be off the charts.
