When a charming rogue proposes she marry him to meet her grandmother’s ultimatum, the Sharpe clan’s strong-willed sister makes a tempting counter-offer that preserves her inheritance and ignites his imagination.

Lady Minerva Sharpe has the perfect plan to thwart her grandmother’s demands: become engaged to a rogue! Surely Gran would rather release her inheritance than see her wed a scoundrel. And who better to play the part of Minerva’s would-be husband than wild barrister Giles Masters, the very inspiration for the handsome spy in the popular Gothic novels she writes? The memory of his passionate kiss on her nineteenth birthday has lingered in Minerva’s imagination, though she has no intention of really falling for such a rakehell, much less marrying him. Little does she know, he really is a covert government operative. When they team up to investigate the mystery behind her parents’ deaths, their fake betrothal leads to red-hot desire. Then Minerva discovers Giles’s secret double life, and he must use all the cunning tricks of his trade to find his way back into her heart.

What would you do if you were told that you marry or loose everything?  Well Minerva has to figure something out because there is no way she will marry, first off they would require her to stop writing her hugely successful gothic novels and second she lost all illusions of love years ago so why bother.  She instead develops a plan, she will advertise for a husband and choose the worst one she can than convince her family it is better off if she stays single.

What would you do if your life was being put in a book for everyone to see and it could cost you everything you have?  Giles has no idea why Minerva has decided to use him as the villain in her books but he has to find a way to put a stop to it, than he sees her advertisement.  There is no way he will allow anyone else to marry Minerva and it is the perfect way to get her to stop writing about him, let alone he can’t stop thinking about her.

Well Giles happens to be Minerva’s idea of the perfect candidate for her plan if only he will abide by her rules and if she can keep her heart protected from him.

Things never turn out quite as planned though!

This book takes you on a journey of honesty, trust, intrigue, murder and the hope of finding true love.  You will not want to miss this one.

Yes, I have been reading and loving the Hellions series. I can ot wait for Minerva’s story. While I enjoyed Oliver & Maria’s story, my favorite is Jarret & Annabel. That one made me cry.

A good historical? That she makes him wait, grovel, beg, plead……:-)

I’ve been reading the series cause I’m a Sabrina Jeffries ho. Bigtime. I loved the first one. The introduction to the premise was so great, and I loved their grandmother, and how they are a mix of the aristocracy and trade. How Oliver and Maria ended up together was great, with the family all conspiring against them..

OK. I also loved Jarrett and Annabel. Yeah. That’s really helpful, huh?

I’m a huge fan of Sabrina Jeffries and have read all of her books since the Royal Brotherhood Series (and am making my way through the older books). I’d have to say that my favourite so far in this most recent series would have to be the first one for sure. I adored Jarrett and Annabel’s story but what gave this one the edge was that I’d been waiting for Oliver’s story since the School for Heiresses ended and was so excited when I picked this one up. I liked that we got to see all the different sides of his character and of course Oliver and Maria’s story was everything I could have wanted.

I really want to read Cecilia’s book. I really enjoyed The Truth about Lord Stoneville. I can’t wait to read How to woo a Reluctant lady. I love Giles and Minerva. I love reading the undercurrent in the previous two books. Sabrina Jeffries books are always fun and sexy to read.

I love and own all of Sabrina Jeffries books, and Minerva is on her way to me. So at this time, I am so jealous you have already read it! I am not reading your review, because I don’t want an accidental spoiler.
I am also very intrigued about the truth about their parents death. Some storylines jump in my head, and I want to know if I am right or not. But I guess that will be found out in the book with Celia and I think Pinter. Have no idea who Gabe will end up with yet.
