I love my historicals, so when I read that there was a new author and this is the debut book I had to get my hands on a copy. Not knowing what to expect, which is sometimes the best way to start a book, I opened this one up and got sucked in. This fit right in there with other historicals that I have enjoyed and want more of.
There is great tension between the two characters. Isobel & Blackwood have this love/hate relationship thing happening with neither one of them realizing the truth behind it. In the meantime Isobel is trying to find an escape for her and her son – subplot is filled with deceit and illegal activity everywhere. Blackwood is trying to find his “mystery” love while being distracted by family and his job. It’s amazing how things work out in the end.
I do have to say this was a fairly good and easy read for anyone who enjoys reading this type of book. It was not the best historical I have ever read but good enough that I want more.
