We all get one true love in our lives, and it’s up to us to find it. Fate will act and try to push us together, but ultimately it’s up to us to recognize who that one person is when he’s standing in front of us.

It turns out that I recognized who my one person was when I was separated from my husband.

Anxiety.
On the same day I determined that I was finally going to file for divorce, I confessed my secret to Jesse Drake, my swoon-worthy colleague known for his womanizing ways. Jesse invited me to crash with him, and with each new piece of the enigmatic Jesse puzzle that I started to fit into place, I found myself wondering if Fate had pushed us together for a reason.

If only my husband would stop getting in the way of the man with whom I was meant to be.

Veronica has been a senior English teacher for 5 years.  Shortly after starting, she met Richard and they have been married for 2 years.  Richard seemed like a good guy until the day they got married.  He turned out to be hateful and incredibly manipulative.  They have been separated for the last year sort of.  They’ve lived in the same house, in different rooms and barely talk.  They also haven’t told anyone what is going on with their marriage.

Every Friday after school Veronica meets with several of the teachers for happy hour.  This group includes the super hot senior counselor, Jesse, that Veronica has secretly crushed on for the last 5 years.  Over than time Jesse and V (as he calls her) have grown to be good friends and he has noticed a change in her.  This particulat Friday Happy Hour, Jesse encourages V to talk and she opens up about her home life and her decision to file for divorce. He convinces her to stay with him (in his guest room) until she gets on her feet.  Everything happens very fast after that.  The palpable sexual tension leads to a super hot kiss, which was witnessed by someone.  That someone contacted the news accusing the couple of having an affair at school, which prompts a school board investigation and a no contact order between Jesse and V.

Thoughts:  The biggest message in this story is that fate can lead you to where you are supposed to be, but it’s your responsibility to recognize it.  This was an amazing story that I couldn’t put down.   I think it’s a story most people can relate to, even if it is a touchy subject.  You can’t help but root for Jesse and V!  Jesse is the hottest of the hot!  I was shocked that this was a standalone book!

Grade: A+
