Spirited Away

Cindy Miles

Knight Tristan de Barre and his men were murdered in 1292, their souls cursed to roam Dreadmoor Castle forever.
Forensic archeologist Andi Monroe is excavating the site and studying the legend of a medieval knight who disappeared. But although she’s usually rational, Andi could swear she’s met the handsome knight’s ghost.
Until she finds a way to lift the curse, though, love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.
REVIEW: We have all dreamed of a knight in shinning armor at some point in our life, whether we will admit it or not. I think that is why I love books that have a medieval knight meeting up with a very modern woman.
Of all the authors that I have read that deal with ghosts and time travel Cindy Miles is in my top 5. I loved this book from the moment that I picked it up. I do have to admit that it was the cover that captured my interest first. I loved the dress and the shoes of the woman on the cover and with her leaning up against a knight it was just wow.
Because Cindy was my spotlight author this month I decided to go back and re-read all her books. I thought it would be even better after knowing who she created her hero’s after and I have to say that I agree with her about Tristan.
Tristan is a man that has been cursed for seven hundred years and has pretty much given up hope of every finding a way to break the curse and also of coming to care for mortals, because it hurts to much when they die and he is tired of it all. When Andi shows up to do the work that he has hired her to do, well he has no clue whether he is coming or going. All he knows is that he doesn’t like it.
Andi is woman that believes in science and logic. She certainly doesn’t believe in ghosts, especially ghosts that have been around for hundreds of years and have haunted her dreams for the last twelve years. She thinks that Tristan is an insensitive jerk, albeit one that is drop dead gorgeous. When she is confronted with the truth of him, of what he is, it is too late.
I loved watching these two fall in love. Neither one wanted it, yet they were both powerless to fight the attraction and the comfort that they gave each other. When Tristan is finally able to hold and kiss Andi wowser. I likened it to kiss that Aragon gives Arwen at the end of LOTR’s, when he realizes that she isn’t dead, nor has left with all the other elves.
One of the things that makes this book really entertaining is the supporting characters. There is Jameson, Tristan’s butler, his family has been serving Tristan from the time that he woke up to his curse. Then there is Jason, the youngest of Tristan’s men, and between 17-19 when he dies. Not to mention all the other men in his garrison.
This is one of those books that no matter how many times you read it (I have read it twice to date) you love it. If you haven’t yet read then I highly recommend that you correct this oversight immediately.
I give this book a 5 out of 5.

Can't wait to get through these other books that I have so I can start reading these. They sound so good, can't believe I have not read her yet.
