My Thoughts:
Standing By was the first book I’ve read by this author and it was a great read. It grabbed me from page one and before I knew it I was done with the book. It left me wanting to read the first book of the series.
There was a physical attraction between Mitch and Hayley but it definitely wasn’t a ‘love at first sight’ for them. They were total opposites. Haley was serious where Mitch was living in the moment. He was all about having fun. The last thing he was looking for was love.
Hayley had a childhood where she felt inadequate or a failure. She has a mother who makes her feel as if she will never meet her expectations, brothers who have nothing better to do than to berate her, a father who is always looking for forgiveness. This has made Hayley appear tough on the outside but mentally she is a mess. She’s had enough domineering men in her family that she isn’t looking to fall in love especially with a someone like Mitch.

This story will leave you with the memory of it’s memorable characters and it’s one liners that couldn’t do nothing but give you a fit of laughter.
