Ten Ways to be Adorded When Landing a Lord

Ten Ways to be Adored When Landing a Lord

Ralston Siblings bk 2

Sarah MacLean

Every once in a while we get a book that we both have to review because we both either love or hate or one of us loves it and the other hates it. This is one of those books.

After reading Nine Rules to Break I was completely in love with this family. I do have to admit that I am a sucker for boy twins, but that could be because I am a mom of boy twins. There was just something about Gabriel and Nick and then you add into the mix a sister from Italy by their mother that had abandoned them all at the same age, well you knew that it was going to be a great story. So when I got a copy of Nick’s story Ten Ways to be Adored I had great expectations.

“Lord Nicholas is a paragon of manhood. And his eyes, Dear Reader! So blue!”
Pearls & Pelisses, June 1823

Since being named on of London’s “Lords to Land” by a popular ladies’ magazine, Nicholas St. John has been relentlessly pursued by every matrimony-minded female in the ton. So when an opportunity to escape fashionable society presents itself, he eagerly jumps—only to land in the path of the most determined, damnably delicious woman he’s ever met! The daughter of a titled wastrel,

Lady Isabel Townsend has too many secrets and too little money. Though used to taking care of herself quite handily, her father’s recent passing has left Isabel at sea and in need of outside help to protect her young brother’s birthright. The sinfully handsome, eminently eligible Lord Nicholas could be the very salvation she seeks.

But the lady must be wary and not do anything reckless…like falling madly, passionately in love.

For me this was the perfect story for Nick. He was the second son, had less pressure from Dad to be the perfect son and future Marquis so he could do what he wanted. From things that he said in Gabriel’s book I knew that there was much more to him than we knew, and when we found out what it was it was something completely unexpected. He was the perfect hero, and his sidekick Rock was the perfect complement to him.

I am still not sure what I think about Isabel Nick’s heroine. I can’t figure out whether I like her or hate her, or am just completely baffled by her. I may be leaning more towards the baffled feeling.

Isabel is one of those women that you just want to shake at times. She has been shaped by events and people around her and has found a way to deal with the hand that life has dealt her. She has very good intentions, I think sometimes that she lets those good intentions blind her to what is really going on and she always has to be right.

I do have to say that there was one part of the book that I wanted to reach into the book and slap her for what she says to Nick, but she quickly realizes her mistake.

I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the first book, but that could be because of my mood at the time that I read it, overall though I really enjoyed it, and can hardly wait to see what happens to Juliette in her book, I think I know who her hero is going to be, but I could be wrong. I really hope though that it is who I think it is because the fireworks will be awesome.

I did love this book, but not as much as the first one. I loved Nick & Rock, Lara and the girls; I liked Isabel. I think I liked her for what she was doing for all her ‘girls’. I loved the interaction between between her brother, James and Nick. When he taught him to tie the cravat, well that was so endearing. I am so looking forward Juliette’s story. Her story should be very interesting, to say the least.
I am married to a twin; an identical twin, at that, so I do enjoy stories about twins.

I haven’t read anything by this author yet, but it sounds promising.

I really liked Nine Rules so I picked this one up last week. I’m not exactly in a historical romance mood at the moment but I’m glad to hear this was good.
