That Perfect Someone

Title: That Perfect Someone

Series: The Mallory’s bk 10

Author: Johanna Lindsey

Genre: Historical

Nine years ago, Richard Allen fled England and his controlling father. Determined to live his own life, he took to the sea and settled in the Caribbean, joining a band of treasure-hunting pirates and adopting the persona of a carefree, seductive Frenchman named Jean Paul to guard the secrets of his past. When he slips back into England to carry out an urgent task, Richard becomes infatuated with a married woman, Georgina Malory. But his reckless attempt to woo Georgina at a masked ball turns out to be the worst mistake of his life because it brings him face to face with another beautiful woman.

Thrilled that her solicitors have finally come up with a way to free her from her betrothal contract to the Earl of Manford’s son who abandoned her years ago, heiress Julia Miller is ready for the marriage mart and hopes to find that perfect someone at her friend Georgina’s ball. Charmed by a masked Frenchman who gives her her first kiss, she can’t help but pursue this mysterious man—until she makes a shocking discovery. Now, to avoid falling into a ruthless nobleman’s trap, Julia must enter a risky, intimate charade with a man she never believed she could love.

“There’s no better way to spend your time than with the Malorys—it’s like sailing off to heaven,” raves Romantic Times. With a little help from the lucky-in-love Malory family, will Richard and Julia discover in each other that perfect someone?

I have been in love with this series ever since the very first book Love Only Once. There have been times when I have wished that I have wanted to be a part of the Mallory Clan.

Richard and Julie aren’t members of the Mallory Family but Richard is Gabby’s best friend and Gabby is married to Drew Anderson who is George Mallory’s brother and Gabby’s father is one of George’s husband James’s oldest friends. Julie grew up down the block from where George and James live and they consider her family.

Richard is one of the characters that when we first met him in Captive of My Desires intrigued me as he didn’t make much sense in the way that he behaved. It was almost like he was running from something. Which in reality he was. I have to say that if I had a parent like Richards I would have done the same thing. The things that he did to him were horrible and Richard could have turned out so differently if he hadn’t left when he did. He has never wanted to be back in England but has come back for a short visit and plans on leaving very quickly afterwards.

Julie wants to get on with her life and have a family which she can’t because she has been engaged to Richard from the time she was a baby, and even though Richard has been gone for some many years his father won’t let her break the contract. She discovers the perfect way to get out of it however by declaring him dead.

What she never expected was for him to show up and her to be attracted to him, and him to her, that is until they discover who they are.

Through a series of events they decided to be allies and to try and steal the contract. They never expected to fall in love with each other in the process.

As this is a Mallory book you can bet that there is plenty of humor and angst as well as stubborn men that while they acknowledge their feelings they want the women to admit theirs first. There is so much I want to say about this book but to do so would give off a lot of spoilers, and I want you to discover all the snarky comments and discovering of each other that happens.

One of the things that I really like about Johanna Lindsey is that with as many books as she has written she still manages to come up with fresh storylines and great characters that we fall in love with and  want more of.
