Thoughts:  As you can imagine simply from reading the excerpt above, this is a very intricate and tragic storyline.  The whole book really hits on not just a circumstance of bad luck, but also real tragedy, grief, and heartache.  It was really interesting to get to see a man struggle with his grief throughout a book, instead of just shoving all the emotions aside, or coming into the story long after he has come to terms with his loss.    However, this is also a double edged sword in the book – for a romance it really managed to weigh your emotions down.  With every happy moment, we get dragged back down into the emotional wringer, and to be frank makes you tired from all the ups and downs.  But the ending of the book is really sweet and refreshing, and is really the silver lining of the novel.

If you’re looking for a sweet, simple, light-hearted romance, or one that fits the typical romantic genre, this book isn’t for you.  On the other hand, if you’re in the mood for something a little different , you might want to give this one a try.  The author does an excellent job delving into all the characters emotions, and really makes this story well worth a read!
