What I Did For A Duke

What I Did For A Duke
book 5 Pennyroyal Green Series
by Julie Anne Long
release date 2/22/11

For years, he’s been an object of fear, fascination…and fantasy. But of all the wicked rumors that forever dog the formidable Alexander Moncrieffe, Duke of Falconbridge, the ton knows one thing for certain: only fools dare cross him. And when Ian Eversea does just that, Moncrieffe knows the perfect revenge: he’ll seduce Ian’s innocent sister, Genevieve—the only member of the powerful and wealthy Eversea family as yet untouched by scandal. First he’ll capture her heart…and then he’ll break it.
But everything about Genevieve is unexpected: the passion simmering beneath her cool control, the sharp wit tempered by a gentleness that coaxes out his deepest secrets… And though Genevieve has heard the whispers about the duke’s dark past, and knows she trifles with him at her peril, one incendiary kiss tempts her deeper into a world of extraordinary sensuality. Until Genevieve is faced with a fateful choice…is thereanything she won’t do for a duke?

Here I am again starting to read a series in the middle and loving it so much I now have to get my hand on the first 4 books.

The series is based off of the Eversea’s family and what a bunch of scoundrels they all sound like.  This is Genevieve’s story but starts out with her brother Ian, who is caught in a very compromising position by the intended fiance who happens to be a Duke. He graciously late Ian go instead of killing him only to plan a different form of punishment by going after his sister.

While all this is taking place Genevieve is trying to hold herself together, the “love of her life” just informed her he was going to ask someone else to marry him.  She knows her life is over and for some reason the rest of her family is all blind to her turmoil.

Than in walks the Duke to their house party, he quickly becomes the one person who she can be herself with and he quickly finds that his intended plan has no chance of working.

The story was full of whit and sarcasm, which I love.  You fall in love with the whole family and the book leaves you wanting more, as every good romance should.

Grade A
