winter's heatTitle: Winter’s Heat

Series: Nemesis, Unlimited bk 1.5

Author: Zoe Archer

Genre: Historical, Holiday Romance

A Special Holiday Novella!

An auxiliary Nemesis agent and one of their former clients go undercover as servants at a country estate during the Christmas season to expose corruption amongst Society’s elite.

Michael and Ada never thought they would again be working side-by-side in the pursuit of justice, and now that they’re on a case together, the attraction they had once shared flares to life, making a dangerous assignment even more unpredictable. It’s Downton Abbey, Nemesis-style.

Thoughts: I’ve been a fan of Ms. Archers for several books now so when I saw she had a holiday story out I knew I would be reading it. And I wasn’t disappointed.

Unlike most historical regencies this book takes place below stairs, think Downton Abbey, with the hero and heroine both being servants. The only other author I’ve read who has done this successfully was Elizabeth Hoyt and I loved her book.

Michael and Ada have worked together before and developed a relationship. When their previous case ended and Michael disappeared with no contact Ada was devastated. Now they are working together and Ada realizes she still has feelings for him, not that she’ll admit that to him. He’s hurt her enough.

Michael on the other hand is determined to repair their relationship as well as gather the evidence they need for their case. He uses every opportunity he has to not only  look for the evidence, but convince Ada he loves her.

This is a fun holiday story  that is a departure from what typically read. But this departure is what makes this book so good.

This is a must read for anyone who loves holiday romances.
