Wolf Line by Vivian Arend

Title: Wolf Line

Series: Granite Lake Wolves bk 5

Author: Vivian Arend

Genre: Paranormal

Into the best-laid plans a little chaos must fall…

Jared’s not sure how his quiet morning coffee near the harbour ended with him on a cruise ship impersonating one of his pack mates. Well, it might have something to do with a woman, but who can blame him? The female of the species was made to love, and he’s more than willing to share his considerable skills in that area. Especially since he figures the chances of meeting his own one-and-only are slim.

Keri Smith is positive the last-minute recruit sneaking aboard the Arctic Wolf Cruise Lines tour is her mate. Ix-nay on confirming that, though, at least for the next ten days. She’s promised her best friend to be overall troubleshooter for the shifter-only cruise. Getting tangled up in mating lust would reduce her skills to nil. Avoidance of the sexy wolf for the duration of the cruise, followed by jumping his bones, seems the logical solution.

But when libidos are on the line, “logic” and “wolves” don’t go together. Throw in suspicions of wrongdoing, and these two virtual strangers will need a lot more than luck to find their way through to forever.

Warning: Really? You need to be warned about the hot nookie and sarcasm? Yeah, it’s in here. Also colourful cat shifters, lupine royalty, and wild adventures in cabins like you’ve never seen before.

Back in March I went to a book signing and met this wonderful new to me author Vivian Arend. I had followed Viv on twitter and had a few conversations with her but other than that well I didn’t know much. However I spent a lot of time with Viv here in Vegas that week-end just me and her and I have to say knowing her made me laugh harder at some of the antics her characters get up to. Plus she likes to send AWESOME pictures to my inbox.

Viv’s Granite Lake Wolves are one of my favorite pnr shifter stories because while they have an element of suspense in some of them, it really is all about making sure the human half of them recognizes and accepts what the wolf side of them already knows.

Jared has got to be one of the funnest heroes I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot of them). He doesn’t take life seriously, and tends to do what he wants. Keri on the other hand is his complete opposite. So while he is wildly attracted to her when he first sees her (after running away from some irrate brothers of his latest hook up) he’s instantly attracted to her, but thinks she’s already mated.

The last thing Keri expects to find on the cruise she is helping her best friend run is her mate. What confuses her is that while she knows he’s her mate, she can’t understand why he doesn’t come after her. When he finally does though and explains why he didn’t before she of course forgives him.

While their wolves know that they are mates and they are burning up the sheets their human halves still need to get to know each other and fall in love. I love this quote from the book.

“I know it’s early, and we don’t know each other completely yet, but Keri, I’m going to fall in love with you. Thoroughly and completely. So you’d better bet you’re what I’ve always wanted in a mate.”

A tiny crease marred the corners of her eyes as she fought back tears. “We can do this, can’t we? We can fall in love, as well as our wolves?”

“Oh yes.” Jared pushed his wolf as far into the corner as he could. For once the beast went with only a second’s pfft at being told to bugger off. “We’re going to fall in love so hard our wolves are going to be jealous of our human sides.”

This is one of those books that will make you laugh out loud at the antics that Jared gets into and how he gets around Keri. I loved every minute of reading this book.

If you have never read one of Vivian’s wolf books then you need to rectify this immediately. You can read this book without having read the other books in the series.
