In the last 2 months both Mel and I have lost a grandparent, she her Granny Goose and me my Grandpa that was more my dad than my grandpa. At my grandpa’s funeral one of my uncles said something that I think describes both of our grandparents and their legacy to us.
As parents we have two things that we can give our kids Roots and Wings. Roots to know where they come from and Wings to fly to become what ever they want.
Both Granny and Grandpa gave us this legacy. We love you and miss. Thank you for everything you have given us.
A beautiful legacy. I didn’t get the opportunity to know my mother’s parents, and my father’s parents weren’t really the grandparent type. Now that I’m a grandmother I look back on all the things I missed, but also all the things they missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I love being a grandmother.
