Your So Vein by Christine Warren

You’re So Vein
The Others bk 7

Christine Warren

Ava Markham is beautiful, savvy, chic, and more at home with Kate Spade than with the idea of fangs and fur. She can’t get quite used to the fact that some of closest friends have crossed over to the Other side. Then one night she is attacked by a rogue vampire, and her deepest fears are realized when her body begins a dangerous transformation from human to immortal—a change she cannot survive without the help of an alluring stranger who comes to her rescue…

Vladimir Rurikovich, an elite member of the European Council of Vampires, is on the prowl for a murderous vampire fugitive on the night he saves Ava from the clutches of death. It takes just one look for Dima to know he cannot live another eight centuries without the stunning and seductive Ava—until he discovers a secret about her bloodline that could change everything…

REVIEW: For those that have read this series, you know how amazing it is. I have enjoyed each of the characters that have been in the books, with the exception of one. Ava. She has always come across as well a petulant child, pissed off because her friends have chosen men that were Other.

It took till almost the end of the book before I began to like her, and it was only because of Dima that I began to like her. For some reason he liked her, granted she is beautiful, but her attitude that her way is the only way really grated. Okay I am going to be honest here, still can barely tolerate her.

Now Dima was another matter. I liked him from the moment that I met him. He was a man forged from the time and place that he had lived before becoming an Other. He was tough, new how to fight. He also was a man that knows what he wants. He is from Russia and was a Russian warlord 800 hundred years ago before he became an Vampire.

From the moment that he meets Ava he knows that his life has changed forever and that he has to have her in it. Convincing Ava however is another matter, as she hates anything Other. When Dima saves her after she is bitten by a vampire, she is more than mad she is furious. Suddenly she is the very thing that she hates and she makes no bones about the fact that she would have prefered to die.

As they work togther to hunt down the reason that Dima is in NY, they discover that she also the reason that Ava was made a Vampire. Ava also discovers that being Other isn’t as bad as she has always said, especially with Dima by her side.

So after re-reading this book to make sure that my original feelings about it were the same, they are I finally gave this book a rating.

I give this book a 3.75,
