Guest Review: When Stars Collide by Micalea Smeltzer

wscTitle: When Stars Collide

Series: Light in the Dark book 2

Author: Micalea Smeltzer

We were like two stars orbiting each other—dancing around the possibility that one day we might collide. When we finally did, we opened up a black hole, obliterating everything around us. No one would be the same.
Least of all, us.

Waking up in Vegas married to the guy of your dreams sounds like a good thing, right? Not when you’re Thea Montgomery and said guy is your brother’s best friend.

Thea and Xander have always avoided the connection between them because her brother would never approve. Now, they’re married— the strongest bond you can have as a couple—and they’re not even a real couple…unless they want to be.

Thea wants an annulment immediately, but Xander’s waited too long to see her become his and he won’t let her go easily.

If she wants a divorce, fine, but he wants the summer to convince her that he’s the one. If at the end of the summer she still wants to end their marriage he’ll sign the papers, but until then…

All is not fair in love and war.

Andrea’s Thoughts:

I was really excited to get the chance to review this book. I’m a big fan of Micalea Smeltzer and loved Rae of Sunshine. From the moment Thea confessed to having a crush on her brother’s best friend, Xander, in Rae of Sunshine, I could not wait for their story. Falling for the brother’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes. J When Stars Collide can definitely be read as a standalone, but if you’re like me and like to know all the players’ business, scoop up Rae of Sunshine and start at the beginning! You’ll get your first peek of Thea and Xander there.

When Stars Collide was so much more than I expected. Like I said, falling for the brother’s best friend is one of my favorites and there is a typical storyline you come to expect with that, but this was so much more than that. Yes, it was cute and lovey but it was also emotional and heartfelt. Thea was quirky and relatable. She could be a bit dramatic, but she was loyal and loved fiercely which I loved about her. Of course Xander was totally swoony, but he was also patient, kind, and loyal. It is a story of love, friendship, healing, and support. This book addressed Thea and Cade’s past more, and with that, we see more of their relationship and the close bond that they have. There was a lot of funny banter between all the characters that I really enjoyed. It was truly a story of love and friendship; not only between Thea & Xander, but between Thea& Rae, and Xander & Cade too. I can’t wait for more from this series.
