As 2019 comes to a close I can’t help but take stock in all that has happened, all the reviewers who have come and gone, the authors I’ve discovered and the ones I’ve said goodbye to. And of course all of the reviews that have been written on here, and the oh so many books reviewed.
When 2009 came to a close this site had been reviewing for 2 years. In 2010 I changed the name of the review site from Heather’s Books to The Book Reading Gals. I also added my sister-in-law to the site. Then came Janon, Danita, Jeananna, Sarah, Amanda, Tammy. Some of these reviewers are still here and some aren’t. All of us however have a deep and abiding love of reading.
In ten years we’ve reviewed more than 3000 books. Spotlighted countless authors, and their characters. Been able to interview favorite authors, like Julie Garwood. and Francine Pascal who were both phone interviews. Attended con’s, and made new friends.
Looking back at my top reads of 2009 I had 15 books on that list with Lisa Kleypas at the top of the list. During that time I discovered so many authors who are on my keeper list.
But most importantly I got to share the books I was reading and turn others on to them. This love of sharing what I was reading began when I was in high school and one of my best friends and I would share Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood books.
Thank you all for coming on this journey with us over the last 12 years. Here’s to more books to love, more kindness, and an amazing new decade! Bring on the Roaring 20’s!
