We’re a group of women who love to read romance books. Between all of us we read everything. We love nothing better than to curl up and read one of our favorite books and then to make others sit down and listen to us tell them why they need to read the books.
I don’t remember exactly what the very first romance books I read was but I know I was 13 and it was a Harlequin Romance, I can even still tell the entire plot of the very first two books that I read. I then devoured every single HQN that my little library had. When I was 14-15 I discovered Johanna Lindsey and her book Brave the Wild Winds, and that was that. From then on I read the bodice ripper romances with Fabian on most of the covers (not that I cared who was on the cover it was all about the story). I will read just about anything now, if you were to look at my bookshelves you would see a very eclectic mix of romance books. I read them all contemporary, historical, paranormal, urban fantasy. Nora Roberts, Julie Garwood, Nalini Singh, Alyssa Day, Erin Kellison, Jessa Slade, Delilah Marvell, Lauren Dane, Stephanie Laurens, Melissa Schroeder, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kerrylnn Sparks, and of course Johanna Lindsey are just a few of the many books on my bookshelf.
My first and true love in reading is Historical Romance. It’s hard to pick a favorite author in this one but I’ve loved all books that I’ve read by Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas and Lorraine Heath. My favorite all time historical romance book is The Game by Brenda Joyce – it’s a total bodice ripper romance written in the late 1980’s. really enjoy Urban Fantasy and Paranormals. Karen Marie Moning is one of my favorites, I took the day off from work when the last book in her Fever Series came out. Kim Harrison and Jeaniene Frost are also favorite reads. Sherrilyn Kenyon is one my favorite authors, I have Acheron’s symbol tattooed on my back. Jennifer Ashley and JR Ward are favorite reads as well. I love to read Contemporary’s that have a sports theme, and count Jill Shalvis, Robyn Carr and Kate Angells as top picks. I’m a big Janet Evanovich fan. The Stephanie Plum series is my guilty pleasure. Whenever I need a good laugh I go back and reread Chapter 13 from Hard Eight. It cracks me up so much that it makes me cry.
I started reading romance when I was 18. My first was romance love was contemporary. The first romance book I read was a Lora Leigh book. I’ve since expanded my reading genre’s to a bit of everything romance. I can’t say I have a favorite author since there are so many I love some of my favorites are Cat Johnson, Katie Lane, Carolyn Brown, Beth Willamson/Emma Lang for western and Historical. Lauren Dane, Maya Banks, Jaci Burton, Bella Andre for Contemporary. Kresley Cole, Lara Adrian, Jeaniene Frost, JR Ward and Shelly Laurenston for paranormal. I’m a huge Lora Leigh fan love all of her books but my comfort read is her loving lies book. Makes me laugh and cry and hope.
I have been reading books for as long as I can remember. In fact, I tend to read them so quickly that I am always searching for new authors to read! I love anything with at least a touch of romance in it, but my favorite genre is paranormal – quickly followed by sci-fi/fantasy, erotica, and contemporary. Some of my absolute favorite authors are Laurell K. Hamilton, Patricia Briggs, Christine Feehan, Nalini Singh, Laurann Dohner, and so many others that it would be hard to list them all! No matter what else I have going on in my life, I always make time for reading!
The best birthday gift that I ever received was a Kindle – it was the catalyst to re-ignite my love of reading! Several years and 2 Kindles later, I escape into a book as often as possible. I have cards from 2 different libraries around my home town and on a daily basis I get several emails linking me to free or discounted books… I have more on my TBR list than I will ever get to and I add more daily! I am grateful that I discovered thebookreadinggals.com and look forward to all the new authors that I continue to discover through the blog. I love a good romance – contemporary, romantic suspense and erotica while throwing in a few historical, paranormal and dystopian – I prefer to read series and a HEA is a must. (that’s not too much to ask for, right?) Fave authors: Lori Foster, Lauren Dane, Carly Phillips, Shannon Stacey, Lorelei James, Maya Banks, Kristen Ashley, Jill Shalvis, Cat Johnson, Jaci Burton, Julie Ann Walker, JR Ward… (I know I’m leaving some out…)
I’ve been a voracious reader for as long as I can remember. I read my first book series when I was 8 which was the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I read many authors and had stuck to just a few genres Romance Suspense, Paranormal, Mystery and Thrillers but since I started writing reviews I have now started reading Contemporary Romance, Historical Romance, Urban Fantasy, and Erotica. I’m always thrilled when I find a new author. I’m now on three street teams which I love and I’m also a beta reader. Some of my favorite authors are Brenda Novak, Lisa Renee Jones, Katie Reus, T.G. Ayer, Iris Johansen, Jonathan Kellerman, Christine Feehan, Kathy Reichs, and many more.
