SBC president Drew Black is as controversial as they come. But the hot-headed entrepreneur is a perfect match for his popular sports club venture: uncompromising and extreme. Maybe too extreme. With a reputation for saying what he thinks, Drew’s been causing a lot of friction. That’s why someone’s been called in to clean up his image—before he does any permanent damage.
The lucky lady is Gillian Noode, a PR expert who’s smoothed out the rough edges on many a man. But Drew is rougher than anyone she’s ever met, and he refuses to change for any woman, for any reason. To make matters more complicated, Gillian’s starting to like him raw. Now, opposites aren’t only attracting, they’re igniting. But in the rising heat, which one of them will end up on top?
REVIEW: There are some series that get better with each book and this is one of those series. From the first book Causing Havoc I was hooked, and with each book more so. One of my favorite characters has always been Drew.
At the end of My Man Michael we got to see a side of Drew that no one else had. It was one short paragraph at the very end, but it gave a glimpse of Drew. From the moment that this book started I couldn’t put it down. Drew is a man that is very very comfortable with who he is and he makes no apologies for it.
He has made the sport MMA what it is, and has built up the SBC into one of the best sports organizations. He takes crap from no one and is like a rapid dog in his defense of the sport and his fighters. He has this public persona that when viewed from the outside you think that he goes for the groupies that are in his words “all plastic” at least that is what Gillian thinks when she comes across him for the first time after taking the job to make him over. What she didn’t count on was him, and the fact that he tolerated those groupies for the sake of the sport, but when it came to choosing a woman of his own he wants a “real woman”.
Gillian on the other hand is on to his game. There is nothing that he can do that will shock her in regards to his personality. What she hadn’t counted on was the intense attraction to him. It doesn’t take her long to figure out that he is mostly bark, unless it comes to his sport. She is a strong very capable woman that knows what she wants in life and is not afraid to go after it. She knows the risks involved when she decides to get personal with Drew, but deems him worth it.
One of my favorite parts of the this books is when Drew……………………to make sure that Gillian gets what she wants. Sorry to read what he does you have to read the book.
If you haven’t read the other books in this series it is okay, as there isn’t much from the other guys in this book as there has been in the past books. I would have liked more from the other guys to see what was going on in their lives.
I give this book a 4.5 out of 5
Sounds like a great book! I may need to borrow this one from you 🙂
You should start with the first one. That one and the ones that are in anthologies are the only ones that I am missing.
Thank you so much! 🙂 What a nice blog to run into. LOL
Hugs,
Lori
Thanks Lori, I meant to drop a line about the review on your fb page.
I have only read two of the SBC books but loved them both. I just bought Back in Black and hope to get to it soon. I am really looking forward to it after your review.
